I just got a CMMG Banshee 10mm.  It's such a sexy little bitch.  With it's 8" barrel, this thing is begging for a can.  Some conditions and limitations:
- I will be running everything from subsonics, to very hot loads generating up to 850 ft-lbs of energy.
- In addition to jacketed and plated bullets, I will be shooting hardcast and coated hardcast bullets, so it can't be a welded suppressor.  I have to be able to take it apart for cleaning.

I have it narrowed down to the Deadair Ghost 45 and the Hxwrx RAD 45.  I really like the Deadair, but none of their adaptors have .578 X 28 threads, so I'd have to get an additional adaptor, which I don't really love.  Hxwrx has a three lug adaptor that fits that thread.

Does anyone have experience suppressing these Banshee 10mms?  Anyone have any experience with these two suppressors or could offer a recommendation on something else?  This will be my first can.

Bonus question:  What idiot came up with .578 X 28, and why?

Pretty happy with my rugged obsidian 45 on my CMMG guard in 45ACP with their direct thread adapter for .578x28. Any reason why you haven't considered it as well?

That was going to be my first choice.  Rugged told me they don't recommend using cast bullets.

I think it is because .45ACP 1911 barrels are pretty thin and that thread pattern works for them.

OK, that actually makes sense.  It's not a standard ASME B1.1 UN series thread.  What doesn't make sense, is why CMMG chose it for a 10mm barrel.

When I had one I used my Octane 45 with the silencerco 3 lug adaptor.  No Issues with full power loads.

I run an Omega 45k on my Mp5/10 and it works great, plus it’s rated for F/A which makes it even better.

On my Banshee I use a Griffin minimalist flash hider, Plan A adapter mount, and a Dead Air Primal suppressor.  It works great for me.

The Omega 45K would be a great can for that purpose.  Grab a Jmac brake for it.

Didn't know that. I do have some commercial cast 45acp projectiles from Missouri bullet company that I have loaded up but not shot through it yet.
Did they say why?

Probably nothing.  I'm more concerned that they wouldn't stand behind their product and use that as an excuse.  Hxwrx and Deadair just say you'll have to clean them more often.

To add a little background to 3-lug .45, Todd Bailey (Special Weapons) made two versions of. 45 roller delayed clones. The SW45 and SW45X were made by Special Weapons. The SW45 used a custom vertical magwell for slightly modified Grease Gun mags. The 9mm magwell was cut out and the vertical magwell was welded onto the receiver. The SW45X used a .40 caliber clone receiver. The Grease Gun mags need to be heavily modified to be used in the angled .40 caliber receiver. The muzzle of the .45 3-lug barrel is somewhere between a 9mm 3-lug and the  .40 caliber 3-lug. I can't find my calipers, and have not replaced them so I can't give diameter of my SW45 full size or my SW45X that Jeff at PCS built for me. The bolts are based on the MP5 bolt with the bolt face opened up to  .45. It uses a standard 9mm ejector. It is my understanding that Bill Fleming was the first to do a .45 conversion to the HK94 using modified Thompson mags with a similar opened up bolt face with a 9mm HK MP5 bolt. These are extremely rare.

I have a CMMG 45 mated to my Ghost 45m, the .578x28 thread was definitely a hurdle years back when I put it together.  Initially, I had a custom direct thread adapter made, but ultimately I put a Griffin flash suppressor on the upper and a Griffin to DA Plan A adapter on the can, bonus being its easier to move around.  I'm pretty happy with the Ghost, its long though, I think I'd prioritize being more compact if I had it to do again.  I actually really liked my SiCo Hybrid 46 on the CMMG, its a little heavier, but such a useful can on so many other cartridges.  Unfortunately its not user serviceable, but the Griffin Bushwacker 46 is, and that is what I would have bought if it existed at the time.

Cast bullets foul more.

You don't really want a bunch of flakes rattling around in the can which could interfere with a bullet and cause baffle strikes (or worse).

Shoot a few cast occasionally and clean between, probably nothing bad would happen.

Get complacent and lazy and do it enough, you'll probably end up regretting it and they don't want that to possibly look negatively on them.

So, if a manufacturer says don't, and you do, don't go crying to them if you end up screwing it up because you didn't because it won't be their problem to fix.  At the end of the day, that's what it boils down to.

For that matter, I can also assure you powder coated cast also lead fouls parts.

Ever shoot 22 rimfire through a silencer for a long time and not clean it?  

That's what they don't want you to do to their cans.

I absolutely understand all of this, and I wouldn't go crying.  I've been shooting hardcast bullets and coated bullets for many years, and I know what they do.  Two of their competitors said, "Shooting cast and coated bullets is fine.  You'll just have to clean more."
