At the funshow today.
Bought a tub of powder and primers, sold what I didn't need and got my money back. Ended up with a 4 pound jugs of Bullseye and Unique. For free. |

Yesterday went shooting with the wife.
Of course picked up my own brass, but no extras available this time. Also spent entirely too much money at American reloading this weekend. 3k .224 projos; 500 .308; and 8lbs of powder

Switched the square deal from 9mm to 45 for the first time and had to figure out how to adjust dies
 Got everything figured out and loaded 100.

Picked up another 60 pounds of range brass, cherry-picked about 300 223 cases out of it and got it into the tumbler with walnut shells and polish.

 One of my ex-students came over and we loaded 50 rounds of 416 Rigby. He is off to Africa in 3 weeks to hunt Cape Buffalo and Kudo. He has a custom Mauser with a heavy barrel and a synthetic brown stock. Open sights. We are using new Norma brass that we resized and length was "Trim to" length after sizing. Win. We chamfered and deburred them. Bullets are Barnes 400 gr TSX-FB, what his Professional Hunter suggested. Used H-4831 SC and Win LRM primers. Dropped charge and trickled up all charges. Worked up from 90.0 grains in 1 gr increments and settled on 97.0 grs. Grain under max. We started last February with this. Extra caution as this is a custom rifle. (He has a custom 270 we are having issues with. Won't take standard length cartridges, factory and our handloads, but that's another story.) He said he was getting 1 inch 3 shot groups at 50 yds, open sights, with improvised pickup hood rest. It was 3 shots, take a break and go again. He said recoil was like heavy 12 Ga loads, something you notice. Anyway we set OAL to Barnes specs, which worked well on the work ups. Did close inspection on all rounds, especially primer seating. He got a Lee FCD that is huge. Had to take thread insert out of the top of his Rockchucker (mounted on 2x4 in my bench vice, very secure) to thread in die. Did a heavy crimp with the FCD. Bullet seating worked out to the last grove in the bullet, so had that to crimp into. Very secure. Barnes had a plan with their OAL if cases were trimmed to "trim to" length. This was the same crimp used on the work up loads. No issues with bullets in mag moving. So he was told to safely cycle each round through his rifle to triple check them. He called today and said all were fine.  |

Sorted 40 pounds of pistol brass by caliber for feeding the tumbler. Including more than 5 pounds of .45 ACP, which should yield 350 to 400 cases. While waiting for the glue to dry on the last few pieces of the reloading bench I glued up earlier.

Took load of 9mm brass from wet tumbler, refilled with misc 30 cal cases and pluged it back in.
Have of my 3 dry tumblers going putting the bling on 1k of 9mm 115 gr seconds Nukes from RMR. Visually nothing wrong with them except they were dull colored. So I'm putting the bling on them. |

  Adjusted the Square Deal B from 38spl to 357mag. Set it up for 6.0grns of WIN244, 158grn jacketed round nose from American Reloading. Ran ~130 through it and then it went POP on the downstroke. The frame cracked entirely through. A quick phone call to Dillon Precision and they gave me an RMA number and said they'd replace the press. Just got it apart and back into the original box for return. This press was serviced by Dillon a couple years ago, and I just lubed/greased it up and replaced bushings a month a month ago. |

Made up about 110 of my standard Hornady 55 SPBT + TAC loads in “other” brass (brass that’s not LC/PMC/Win). This load is great, shoots accurate in almost every rifle in misc headstamp brass with a cheap bullet, inexpensive ball powder and Wolf primers!
I save up “others” from my batch runs of brass until I have enough to load ~100 or more at a time. I don’t use my AutoTrickler, just my Hornady powder drop. Goes fast! -ZA |

The last few pieces of brass I was trimming last night started to kind of get stuck every five rounds. I thought something was out of adjustment, I adjusted a few things, and finally called it a night. I decided today that, maybe it was time to clean the shell plate. As I was swabbing it down, I found that one of the areas that the rim goes in, had a stainless pin bent into it. Apparently, my pins are the same size as a 223 rim. Pulled that out, put it back together and finished my 223 brass. Looked in the case feeder and there were a few more pins in there.
A good reminder that if something doesn't suddenly feel right (normal), it probably isn't. |

Finished the first sanding pass on my bench, with 40-grit sandpaper. 2-3 more sanding passes and it'll be ready for staining.

Tumbled a bunch of trimmed 223 in the vibratory tumbler, I hate that thing. Then I set the press up for 44 spl, and ran a 150ish through it.

It’s getting pretty close to being ready for processing. Have 444 marlin tumbling outside to get dust out of tumbler. I have way to much crap for someone who loads so few calibers. |

Received my factory second primers from American Reloading yesterday. Advertised as having hard cups but within NATO spec.
Loaded 100 in .45acp tonight to test. Once I get the Square Deal switched over I'll load some 9mm. Hopefully they'll work ok in my striker fired 9s other wise they'll be for hammer fired 45s or worst case, AR9. |
