Can anyoneone help me understand...

Multiple things I have read talk about mixing wipe on poly, mineral spirits, and BLO as a finish.

How is it not OK to put wipe on poly over BLO too early before it cures, but it is OK to mix it with BLO as a finish?

I have some old HK G3 wood I have cleaned up and put a few coats of BLO on.

I want to put 2 light coats of matte/satin wipe on poly on it so it will clean up easier and preserve it how it looks now while hopefully preserving the oiled finish look as best I can... (I have it where I like the looks and if I let it get oils/grease and whatnot on it, then just re apply BLO it will be black in no time)

I was thinking just 3 parts wipe on poly, 1 part MS, but the addition of blo to the mix sounds good, I just dont understand how you can apply a mix of something that takes 5x as long to dry.

Has anyone use the blo/poly/ms blend that can explain this to me or offer any other advice?

Thanks
