I have savage factory heavy barrel in .223 remington........barrel has some pitting...........anyone know of someone who can rechamber this barrel and bore to 300 AAC BLK..........looking to have it done cheap .......I can purchase a stainless replacement barrel from ER Shaw for like 300 bucks.............so I don't want to spend a lot of money when I can just do the Shaw route..........

I asked bartlein about chamber setback, they said don't do it, the entire barrel wears... Not positive  it does, but I respect their opinion on it...With that said, there is no way I spend 150-200 plus dollars for a chamber setback on a used barrel, especially since a new barrel is 300 bucks ready to go...

New barrel is probably the best choice.

what you want done will cost more than a new barrel.  If the barrel is 223 bore you would have to have it bored out then rifling cut. I doubt you could even find someone to do one barrel.

It used to be a viable alternative. But, it's too labor intensive to be popular and like many noble endeavors requiring craftsmanship, it's too expensive for the normal folks to afford. It's much cheaper to have a run of 100 pieces made from raw materials than take a single piece and set up the machines to do the job.

Buy a new barrel. You will be way better off and it will probably be cheaper.

There is really no way to get a new barrel on the cheap unless someone has the ability and equipment to install/ chamber themselves

And yes bartlein is the shit.
