We'll be IM'ing details by the evening of 3/3 so please make sure your IM Box isn't full.  Please take a moment to review all the details of the plates again on this post.  These plates are FINAL SALE and no returns will be accepted.  The ordering period will be from 3/3 to 3/13, and only those who post they're commitment on this thread will be IM'd the ordering instructions.

Anyone in for a Group Buy on premium LTC 6”x6” polyethylene side plate that are made to stop 7.62 Nato and weigh just 1 lb each?  

We are offering these exclusively on this ARFCOM GB at $69 EACH, or $59 EACH for 4 or more.  This is an extremely rare close-out opportunity and these won’t be available again at this ridiculous price.

These plates were manufactured in June of 2010, boxed up, palletized and shipped to a distributor's warehouse, and never sold or issued.  They were kept in unopened boxes, inside a dry, climate controlled warehouse, and just recently turned up in an inventory audit (this warehouse belongs to a 2 billion dollar prime vendor with over a hundred thousand square feet of inventory).  We currently have dibs on the entire pallet so we can pass the savings on to ARFCOM.  


These plates are 100% Polyethylene (i.e. Dyneema) and do not contain a ceramic plate.  As a comparison, the last side plates we offered on an ARFCOM GB weighed 2.8 lbs each, and you needed soft armor behind it.  

As with our previous GBs, in order for this GB to activate, we need a minimum of 100 members to post "I'm in" commitments on this thread IN THE NEXT 15 DAYS. This GB runs on the honor system so only post that you're in if you're 100%. If for some reason you have to back out, please edit your post to reflect the same so we don't include you in the count.

If this goes live, it will easily be the best armor deal SKD has offered ARFCOM GB history.  We will limit the total number of side plates available to individuals to 6 plates to give everyone a fair chance.  Agencies, this GB is to benefit ARFCOM members first so Agency PO price is $69 each no matter the quantity- please DM me if interested.

Here are some fun pics.  
We know these aren't rated for .223/5.56, but since we had a couple samples, I decided to sacrifice one for some unofficial, non-scientific testing involving a 16" AR15 and 3 types factory ammo I had on hand.  Here are some results:

Round 1, Hornady 55gr. FMJ.  No penetration.

Round 2, Federal XM193 right next to the Hornady round.  No penetration. Honestly, I thought by placing it right next to the original hole it would penetrate, but it just made a slightly larger bulge in the back label.  
Round 3, Wolf Gold 55 gr. FMJ (M193 spec).  No penetration. When I put the 3rd round higher on the plate, it caused a separation of several layers since things were already loosening up near the bottom with the two previous hits.  The layers basically accordioned out and kicked off the back cover and 1/4" hard foam, but after a thorough inspection I can confirm that nothing penetrated.
