The gun seizures and the forced evacuations in Louisiana MUST STOP! Both are not only unconstitutional, but a demeaning and illegal strong-arming of law abiding citizens by the government. You cannot force a citizen to leave their property unless you have an arrest warrant or they themselves are creating a public heath emergency....a simple fear of the citizen getting sick is not enough to make them leave their property! As a Louisiana attroney, a current Louisiana assistant district attorney, and ex-policeman in Louisiana with 8 years of duty, this entire seizure of free people and/or their firearms is making me sick and ashamed that our country's constitutional safegards are so easily disregarded!!! No way would I take arms from law abiding citizens in their own homes if ordered to do so, and no way would I allow my arms to be taken from my home in time of crisis when I need them to protect my family. While you cannot use deadly force in Louisiana to simply protect property (otherthan when someone enters your home or vehicle, when you're present therein, to commit a theft or with intent to commit a felony...you may shoot them), you CAN use deadly force to resist an UNLAWFUL ARREST! Rule number one for Louisiana law enforcement...if you get your ass shot off making an illegal arrest, tough-shit...IT'S A JUSTIFIED HOMICIDE UNDER LOUISIANA LAW! I would strongly urge all officers participating in this crisis not to blindly follow orders from officials who do not have a clue, but to maintain the Constitution and laws of Louisiana and the United States. Remind yourself of your oath before being lead blind ignorant fools!!! Also, if there is another attorney who personally knows someone these atrocities are happening to, I plead with you to file on their behalf both an injunction and a 1983 action ASAP! THE UNARMING AND FORCED REMOVAL OF CITIZENS IN THEIR HOMES HAS GOT TO STOP!!!

Is there anything anyone here can do to assist you in that?

Is empting a city have any precident?  Has it been done before? On a long term basis as is NO, I'd understand temporary if there was a huge gas leak in a small town for example.

The excuse of following orders, when the orders are contrary to an oath, illegal, unethical, and immoral, is an invalid excuse, and a willing participation in wrongdoing.

No, I don't want to see cops who are taking these firearms shot.  If they do choose to enforce these orders, I would rather see them tried in a court of law, convicted, and an appropriate punishment administered.

What I would rather see is individual officers disobey the orders, and relieve of command or arrest those giving the orders.

A good point and well made (yours and our laws are very different and it's easy to forget that. Immoral may be wrong but it aint necesarily legal))....but again it's the strength in numbers game...you need enough officers to do it together.

How do I save that video file. I'm starting a collection of these. It'll be nice to have a video scrap book of the decline of this country as our constitution is used to wipe the ass of the government after they take a big poop on us.

This is utter madness. Hasn't this sort of thing sparked revolutions in other countries? Oh wait... this country too. Native Americans come to mind...

It is my personal belief that the people who have remained in their homes in New Orleans and are hell-bent on "toughing it out" are utter and complete fools.  That said, they have the perfect right to be complete fools and I believe that what is occurring now is a travesty.  In another thread I had initially come down in favor of mandatory evacuations, but you guys convinced me that I was dead wrong.  You tell the people that have remained that they will receive no assistance of any kind, and that a 24-hour curfew is in effect.  If they leave their property they will be arrested.  Then you leave them alone.  The things that I have seen on television over the last 24 hours have turned my stomach.

There is a possibility that I will be sent to NOLA to assist in law enforcement or security there.  You have my word that if I am given an order to break into a home to remove the lawful owner or his lawfully-owned property I will refuse the order.  Will it make a difference?  Probably not; there will always be plenty of people willing to obey the order, but I won't be one of them.

I'm facing the same possibility and I'm with you.  I've always been under the impression that when you join the military and take the oath is doesn't say "...obey all orders...."  I Thought the word "lawful" was in their.  To give his order may or may not be a crime.  To carry it out IS.  It's their right to be armed.  It'll be mine too.  I'll be better armed.  And hopefully the skills I have will ensure a flight back a month from the flight out,  in a seat and not a box.  But I won't take someone's weapon if they are otherwise obeying the law.

It is still my opinion that we can discuss this problem without calling for the death of the LEO/NG members present in NOLA.

It seems this conversation has moved towards our members calling or emailing our government officials. To me this what we should be focusing our efforts on, not sitting here telling everyone how we'd kill anyone who came to get our guns.

The King of England got a lot of letters and appeals from the colonies as well, but it didn't work.

How long does the ballot box and the soap box need to remain ineffective before the next box is opened?

These people who are taking arms from lawful citizens are criminals and traitors and need to be treated as such.  Whether they get justice via the US court system or the court system of the flooded N.O. streets is fine with me... as long as they get justice delivered to them.

So what are you waiting for? Load up your car, and head on down to NOLA and start dealing out the justice you think needs to be done. Don't give me any excuses, just get going and stop posting in here.

Had to drive home from work.

I am asking a serious question.  What is it going to take?  Last year at this time, people would think you were crazy if you said that the government would be going door to door, breaking and entering and confiscating firearms.  What is going to be the last straw?  When they come to get your slingshots?

And as I said, either justice will be fine with me.  I just don't see it happening.

Nope, have to have a real person who has been a victim of the confiscation and forcibly removed from their home. The elderly lady that was show on Fox News lastnight being tackled inside her home by a cop and having her gun taken away before being dragged from her home would be ideal! If you were an LEO and were sent or worked in the NO area. You were given orders to go and help secure the city. You have heard the reports of all the looters and armed gangs roaming the streets shooting at targets of opportunity.

You then come upon some people with a gun, would you confiscate the gun, or let them go on their way? Now remember, there may be no way to determine if the idividual with the gun is the legal owner, or is even supposed to own a gun in the first place.

Right after Andrew I had no difficulty proving who I was or what houses we were legal occupants of. This was confirmed while I had a select fire HK G3 slung over my shoulder. Every other person in the group I was with was also openly armed.

I've spent half the day trying to convince sheeple why evicting people from their homes and stealing their lawful personal property is wrong.

Response? "But look at the conditions!  There is sewage in the streets!  No power!"

I bet if you contrast the living conditions in the NOLA Garden district today with NYC or any large American city in the 1800's (with raw sewage in the streets) and no AC power it would still be better in NOLA today.

I mean really, electric power in houses and indoor plumbing is relatively new!  Only in the last 100 or so years have they became common.

I just called both Senators and my congressman.

I also called the NRA-ILA at this number  1-800-392-8683.

Hit option four at the prompt to speak to an NRA-ILA representative.
I had to hold for about 5 minutes before someone answered. I spoke to a polite
young lady named Amanda. I told her I was horrified and shocked at the trampling
of the bill of rights in NOLA. I was disgusted at guns being confiscated in the private
homes of law abiding citizens, and that the images of M-16's being pointed at citizens in their homes was one I never thought I would see here in America.

Her response was that all she could say at this time was that the NRA was doing research on
what EXACTLY is happening. Are all guns being confiscated? Which departments, agencies, and
military units are doing the confiscating? And WHO gave the order to confiscate
firearms?

She said there was going to be a very high level meeting today at NRA headquarters
to determine the proper course of action.

I expressed to her, in no uncertain terms, that law abiding gun owners in this country
want to see a VERY STRONG response from the NRA, and that we want to see it quickly.
As of right now, there is only a small caption on the NRA's website about firearm confiscation.
I told Amanda that it should be in large, bold, red letters all over the main page.

We will see what they do.  Use that number above and call!
Let the NRA know that this line in the sand cannot be crossed!
