Timing was what I was thinking. This was on the 3rd shot of a full cylinder. My Uncle shot off two, then handed it to me without opening the cylinder, and off went my thumb. Honestly I'm glad it happened to me instead of him though. |

Sorry about you thumb, man. I am curious though. What exactly caused this? I have the 500, and load some pretty hot rounds for it. Was this a defect in the gun/ammo, or did the hot gasses (blow-by) get you? |

Haha, that's what I wanted to do. At first it was so covered in blood that I couldn't see how bad it was ... and I was full of adrenaline and felt no pain. I just got a PTR91 and was going to shoot it next for the first time. I had already loaded a mag, and picked it up and said "f it, I'm doing some more shootin". The 3 guys that were with me talked some sense into me though. |

Rule 2 NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY i think we need a breakdown, if the blast came violently out the side where was your thumb on such a large frame? The relationship between your thumb and the blast is offset if held correctly, unless the cylinder broke, the primer/case head blew....not saying it's bullshit, i'm just saying... hope you heal well |

I'm curious if it doubled, IE, recoil reset trigger and it was pulled again while being pulled down out of recoil. If the weak hand slipped foward toward the cylinder gap I could see nasty things happening.

Saw a hand specialist while there today. Lots of ways to try and save what's left, but first I just have to hope it doesn't get infected in the next few days ... then surgery early next week. Fun fun fun

I feel your pain, my right thumb was crushed and torn off on a printing press in October. It was replanted, and I missed 4 weeks of work, but now I have normal function and feeling back
