Just bought a 2014 SR5 Premium last friday. For my adventures in on-roading. First mods were tint and Lamin-x clear on the headlights and yellow on the fogs. Hopefully having it opticoated and clearbra'd in the next few weeks. http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/dhd373/9FC53556-F48B-4F7E-A1B9-C73BFA53C31C_zpsufgbhu9b.jpg http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/dhd373/01419FB1-168F-4195-84DC-7D487F26E9AE_zpsromlblmz.jpg http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/dhd373/D9A5C0B7-AA4C-42CF-9D15-F3B5149B2201_zpskaeiswxm.jpg http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/dhd373/15B1CB50-45DE-421C-88CC-F0DABC4904B9_zpspaymxjtj.jpg And of course; http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u658/dhd373/308F9811-2FD9-4FE4-92BE-8D67CCFBD652_zpsiuuejdqk.jpg Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Those new front ends are hideous IMO. Shut your mouth. You can stifle my voice, but you can't stifle my thoughts. A buddy of mine is a Kiowa pilot and before his recent deployment he bought his wife a ruby red 4Runner. I stared at that front end for 30 minutes just to take it all in. If Darth Vader had an SUV... I totally love your Texas Edition BTW. Bad Ass. |

I'll do some reading and research. They don't look the part for sure, but I think a lot of it has to do with the astronomically high prices of wheeling one. I think as the cost of a used 200 series declines, you will see more and more people wheeling them, and we can really see what they are capable of. Of the ones I have seen offroad, they do extremely well and are very capable. That's my opinion at least. I will say that I think I like the factory styling of the 100 series better, but the second you slap on an ARB bumper, the 200 looks wicked (especially with a 2 to 4 inch lift) |

That's why I traded my 2000 for a new F150 last year. At 220k, I was getting very worried about my brake master cylinder and steering rack. Not to mention the 2000 MY had fairly high transmission failure rates. I loved that truck though. Had it for 6 years, 120k miles, and a 6 week road trip around the US and Canada. I really like my Ford, but it doesn't evoke any passion like the LC did. Really wanted to get a 200, but I just couldn't justify it. Think I'll put my wife in one in a few years. |

There really isn't anything, other than a Land Rover, that gives you that kinda feeling. I remember the first pimped 80 series that I saw. It was in '96 or '97 and belonged to a guy in a local university off-road club. It looked like something off of the Slee website. ARB and OME everywhere, lol. I knew then that I would own one someday. |

Went for a drive today. Pulled a Jeep out of a snow bank too. Nice day.
That one was a wrong turn. I was at this point to far in to do anything but continue down (and it was very steep). Ended up testing out my rock sliders and beating up a fender. I had just put that damn bolt in on the bottom that you see to secure the damn thing. Yesterday. Ah well. |

So the biggest frustration I faced yesterday on the trails was the stupid flashing light saying my rear locker wasn't locking. And there was one trail I could have gotten up if the rear had locked. Wasn't technical, just snow pack killing the traction on the right side of the Cruiser. I had the front locked, but considering the angle the rear was doing most of the work and it was spinning the right RR tire, not grabbing with the LR where it had mud/dirt to grip. So I fixed it today. First thing I did was verify that it was actually getting actuated by the switch. Backprobe and read it out. Ok, that sucks. Electrical problem to the actuator has so much more potential for an easy fix. Ah well. I knew it before I did the test, just wanted to verify. I could hear it moving. So now I wanted to see what exactly was going on inside there. So a couple of cover plates came off. Not actuated: Actuated: Huh, it looks like it is trying but no dice. It pushed the pin out but not with any force, I could still reach in and wiggle it. At this point I was thinking broken spring. That would be the suck. Nope. I pulled the second cover off and did some more digging. The gear was rotating to where it should but wasn't putting pressure on the spring to push the pin in. There was so little tension I could remove the gear assembly while it was actuated. Which I did, sorry forgot to snap pics of that. So I played with it a bit, actuated and retracted it using a power probe. And it clicked. I needed to reclock it. The springs were intact, but it looked like the pin gearing had just jumped a tooth. I couldn't see any damage, so I actuated it, pulled the gearing out, pushed the pin in till it locked the diff, put the gearing back in, retracted it. It worked. It pulled the pin out. So I actuated it, it pushed it in and locked the diff. And now it was under tension to the point I couldn't pull it out at both ends of the spectrum. Not Actuated: Actuated: Now to put the cover plates back on, hope the oring is still good and go try it on the dirt next weekend.

Quoted: Always fun getting your hands a little dirty. Nice equipment. View Quote I am honestly less then impressed with the Verus. For the price it should work better then it does. I was so frustrated with it two weeks ago when it would scan a 2007 BMW that I went and bought a different scan tool, that weekend. The scope works pretty well, and it will probably do that most of the time unless the new scantool is take for something else.

The Z had an internal roll bar bolted to the frame.
Unfortunately, it was shrouded in plastic which started to crack, so I abandoned that idea immediately. Initially I couldn't find a tow point underneath, due to the ground effects panels. After a re-look, I found a hole through the frame in the rear driver's side to attach my tow strap. Once I found that, I pulled him off the rotted palm tree trunk he was high centered on in about ten seconds. It was weird, plus I wasn't feeling well from my extraction event about fifteen minutes earlier, so I wasn't thinking too clearly. Jim Quoted:

Jim View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Beautiful, man. Just beautiful. We need to post up specs on some of these. There are some nicely built taco's, 40s, 80s, 100s and 200s in this thread!

I am selling my FJ40. I am going to try facebook first, before I take it to a dealership and see what I can get in trade.
I need a more family friendly car. |

First of, rear locker worked! Woot! Not as quickly as the front so it is most likely going to be replaced in the next 10-20k miles. Second, want to know how you can tell you live in one of the best states in the Union? When this is the view on the hardball, an hour before you get to the dirt. Made it to the dirt and it only got better. Two weekends running I have had to pull a Jeep out. Found a camping site, nothing much just a place to park. The view that night was a bit meh. But waking up the next morning was glorious! I really do need to take a day off on the weekend trips and actually rebuild my front end. The birfs are on their way out and there is entirely too much play in the gearing. Full day. Sigh. I would much rather be out cruising the mountains then working on it.
