I am afraid of heights.  I did not really overcome it, I just deal with it and make myself push passed the fear.  The more height related things I do, the less it bothers me.  Start out with something easy and work your way up to higher, scarier things.  Climb a ladder.  Go on your roof, go hiking, go mountain biking, drive on shelf roads, drive or walk over bridges, climb a tower, look out the window of a tall building, etc.

I guess if you truly have a phobia you may not be able to overcome it.

I used to be terrified but I got tired of not being able to do fun things because of fear. Also I work with heights at work now, and facing the fear repetivaly because I have to do it to get paid had really helped

Just have to expose yourself to it. It will feel uncomfortable; but you can't let that feeling control you.

Yep.  I was deathly afraid of heights until I installed my own roof.  No more!

Confront your fear head on and make it your bitch.
