Ok, where's the video of the Iraqi insurgent firing a mortar while it was resting on his leg?

We really shouldn't laugh too much... How many of our guys tried firing a Jap 'knee mortar' off their knees in WWII?

All the ones with broken femors.....

The second one?  He's a terrorist.  The first?  I think they stop laughing when he's clearly hurt.

Yes, I'm refering to the first dude, not the Chechen(sic) terrorist.  Oh well, no skin off of my back.  Later.

Yeah....right.

Any website that uses Real Player exclusively for their video content ain't worth it.

Nope.  Blackwater Shoot vids are available in a spyware and bloatware free format elsewhere on the web.

Hey, had one of those in my arms room in Germany. No one knew what the hell it was and there were no manuals on it anywhere to be found. Oh well, kind of useless when we could just load a WP into the main gun.

No manual?  Heck, I've got a manual for the M202.....just no actual launcher!  The manual came in a big box of gun books/manuals I won at an auction.
From reading the manual I don't think I'd want to lug the thing around when bullets are flying in my direction.  One round in the wrong place & <whoosh!>

That was a recoiless rifle.  90mm by the looks of it.  He is lucky to be alive.
RR are NOT rocket propelled.  They work off of a theory that every action equal and opposite reaction.
The RR operates by expelling 1/3 of the volume of gases as compared to the shell at 3 times the velocity.
As such, RRs use a HUGE amount of propellent compared to other firing mechanisms.  The win is that no complex recoil mechanism is required.  The Belgium early hand held RR was called the Blindicide, if that tells you anything.

Actually that is a 106, often mounted on jeeps or mules.  I was a 11H at Ft Polk, later Vietnam, and had a 90mm assigned to me from time to time.  I shot one round shoulder mounted, no problem.  If you happened to be behind it, that would be a problem.

And probably my favorite 106mm mount of all time, the M50 Ontos....just gotta love a fugly little AFV with 6 106mm recoiless rifles.
