Bullshit. This is exactly the sort of thing that folks like me, who have to be very discerning with my firearms money, need to know. TBS has been way more than patient and I am glad he's calling this horseshit theivery, as that's all it is at this point, out in the open. Tippie brought this on himself. Oh, And I certainly love your portrayal of the rest of the members on this site as " bunch of random internet yahoos". Helpful, very helpful indeed. SG |

If part of his reputation was made on this board (and it seems like it was), then this is wholly appropriate. At the very least, the rest of us have a right to know. Best of luck TBS, you're one patient MF'er! |
If part of his reputation was made on this board...
lew's 'reputation' was made long before there was such a thing as ar15com. go back and read thru the recordbooks. high master...ds...pres. 100...600 and 1000 yard records. i got a feeling lew will make this right by tbs. |
then why not yet? |
Maybe there are more out there besides TBS who are in the same boat

As a resident of Idaho, I'd like to point out that I haven't seen corn pone since I left the midwest. It's called Corn Bread out here (shudder) - nobody knows what corn pone is enough to name a town after it. Why don't you go pick on Oregon or something? They're big. |

Tagged to see another crash and burn just like Coal Creek Arms.
Same kind of ethics, same kind of people. |

I'd say that this isn't the first time, and I can't recall all the details but after receiving AR-10s from ARFCOM at the 1st BRC Lew offered to free float the barrels for us. Wave and EDP medic took him up on his offer. They didn't see their rifles for the better part of a year I think. Repeated phone calls and the runaround were the norm for these guys trying to get back what was generously donated by the membership for their 9/11 respons. I didn't take him up on the offer, and had Castle Arms hold my rifle until I got back from active duty. Boy was I glad. |
wish i had know about that first. 1yr to float a damn barrell? he ain't THAT busy! |

Sorry to read about your situation Mike. If I were independently wealthy I'd just buy you a new rifle and tell you to forget his sorry ass.
My heart goes out to you...hope this works out quickly and you get what you paid for. |
been to his house a few times. unfortuanantly he doesn't live in the same place anymore due to some personal reasons. That is why i want this RESOLVED before he decides to permanatly move from the area. mike |
Damn! Hope everything works out, TBS. I was thinking of having Lew build me a DCM upper when he got done with his active duty, but I guess I'll just call Compass Lake.
Sorry to hear about your problem.I to have been bent over by this type stuff. I was taken by the Gooch . But even he would give you a reach around once in a while. He would call and tell you his new sad story why he could or didn't get to work on it. Good luck Mike. It ain't sa messly $1200 dollars. Its your hard earned CASH. Does Lew live in Georgia ? WarDawg
he builds first class gear. just don't expect to recieve it in your lifetime.
Sorry to hear about your problem Mike. I hope he makes it right.
BTT |

This guy deserves NO consideration from you, Mike. He has MORE than demonstrated he has NO respect for you. He is NOT your friend. He should be relieved of his "Staff" status, ASAP. This reflects on the Site... A scumbag is a scumbag, in or out of uniform... Staff, or no staff... He deserves NO consideration, Mike. BTW, in my world, a grand, is a grand........ I couldn't afford to lose it.......... |
I have no patience when it comes to firearms. I'd have gone completely insane by now.
I am friends with another board member who won the drawing for a gift check from Tippie. To the best of my knowledge he was never able to get anything but double talk from Tippie.
OK, I'll narrow it down to just you, then. This is between two men, plain and simple. |
i agree. too bad one of us refuses to contact the other and has apparently ripped off several people on this site. I am hearing more and more ISSUES with him. Lew has used this site to help build tippie competition. Apparently it is now out of business and he has abandoned the customers he owes. If he doesn't attempt to resolve this without a lawsuit the members here have a RIGHT to know what kind of a person he really is. He also should not be representing a the site. STAFF and Mods are held to a code of conduct above the normal members. Stealing from the members here is a serious violation. COME ON LEW LETS TALK THIS OVER AND SETTLE IT. |
He still hasn't logged on since 8\31. I think he is avoiding the site because he knows whats going on.
his wife has emailed him again this morning with a link to this thread. i am fairly sure he knows about it. if not, he will soon. I don't really expect him to respond. he hasn't so much as given me an email response in over a year.
What form of payment did you use? Cash, credit card, personal check? If other than cash who was the payment made out to, Tippie personally or the business? I would bet a Chapter 7 is in the works. If so, make sure you find out so you can file as a creditor for whatever that will be worth.
that realy sucks man |
personal check made out to him. not tippie competition. |
If it was made out to him personally I dont think he can use Chpt 7 to get out of what he owes you. I assume you have the cancelled check? |
This guy is STILL a staff member???? |
Enough! Contact his command and let them know you have an issue. He's not reading this thread, he's not responding at all. He needs to know this issue won't leave him alone and you are willing to hurt his career if he lacks the character to resolve this.
All Lew had to do was Contact Mike. And all of this could have been avoided. Lew has all of our home Numbers and email address'. I truly think he is a coward and is ignoring the whole situation. It's not like it will go away. Communication is the key. And if Mike is the only one communicating to get this resolved, then Lew should step up to the plate and find away to work this whole thing out. $1200.00's is a lot of money. Friends don't do this to friends. Since we have gone through this experience,we will only buy from a Gun Store from now on. As atleast we won't get screwed in the process!
Sincerely, Mona |
It will happen but i am trying to resolve this between men first. I am bumping this for a few more days or until he responds or i have confirmed he has seen it. At that point we will reach an agreement or i will get a judgement and garnishment order against him. That is already in the works depending on him. MAKE THIS RIGHT LEW |
Mike, I'm very sorry. Sadly, friends and business relationships often don't mix well. I know you are upset, but don't let this dissuade you from dealing with people on the board in the future. I've fortunately had near universally positive experiences here. I hope you get your money back, I sincerely do. What troubles me is the lack of staff input in this thread. Not that I think they are protecting Tippie... I know many of the staff way too well to believe they would do that. I'm just a little disturbed that there hasn't been any input offering to help on your behalf.
I believe you can contact Army Finance and they will "kindly" deduct the amount due to you from his pay, they are very good at deducting Milpay!
Hey Mike. Mona gnawed through her chain and is out of the kitchen! Get the tranqulizer gun and the net! |
Mike,
I understand your frustration, and am sorry this happened because Lew is away on active duty. While I shall not justify his not emailing you with the status of your rifle, I will say that Lew is an honest man and is not trying to defraud you.Sometimes we all get blinded by "the trees" in the day to day hassle, and forget things that are pending "out in the forest". With Lew being activated his business has suffered-to his detriment, and to the frustration of his customers. While I am sure he will build your rifle,I can understand your frustration in not hearing from him When you come to upstate NY is a couple of weeks,we (you and I) will talk person to person, and I will try to see if I can find a resolution to this problem that you can live with (like getting your $$ back...................although I am sure you would prefer to have the rifle built) Take care until then |
I just saw this due to your bump. I am taking a link to this and posting it in Staff NOW. I will not be associated with a thief--PERIOD. I saw something in Staff about him, but it was not specific, and as I don't know him, I paid no attention. Mike, I don't know Tippie (hardly) at all, so I can't help, but I will raise a stink in the Staff forum to make sure "those who matter" are fully aware of this. I'm sorry this has happened--and you are FAR more patient than I would have been. Good luck. |
Seriously, tear in my eye from Ed Sr's and Bee's posts... Mike, with these two looking out for you, you'll never have to worry. They didn't let a recent MAJOR fiasco screw hundreds of board members, they certainly will work with all concerned to see it doesn't happen to one person either. One or a hundred, it doesn't matter to these two gentlemen. Family is family and we look out for each other.
Mike did I understand that right, you are coming up our way? If its during a weekend, I'd love the chance to meet you. |
Wow!
What a way to flush a National Service Rifle Championship down the toilet! What a way to flush the only perfect score of 500 ever shot in CMP competition! I feel sick. |
