One of the benifts of having an out of state permit. In Mo. we have reciprotal with all other states that have CCW permits. So many in Mo. get Fla. out of state permits..

Unbelievable.

The fact that an act is permissible under the law does not make it beneficial to one’s neighbor.

What a vile, despicable act.

COC prevents further comment.

Can anyone who lives in the area make a visit tomorrow to the county clerk's office?  I want to know how much he paid for and how much he owes on his house - all public information.

Maybe you could snag his trash for a couple of weeks and build a profile on his medications and purchasing habits.

Then take all the info a make a website on it.

edited to add

Then send him a folder with all of his public information in it.

A profile of his purchasing habits, SSN, Medications and Diseases that they treat,  Home Phone and Address,  Family and Associates, what he owns, associations he is a member of, associations he was involved with in college.

I WISH I had the link, someone did that to some county officials once who were rummaging through peoples' trash.  Seems the public officials had quite the dirty laundry in their trash.  As I recall it was a newspaper that did this.

Someone find his SSN and I'll put up a website, with his name as the domain, all about him.  If he lived in my area you can be certain I'd be rummaging through his trash too.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's trolling for children online.  Porn records, whatever.  It needs to be disclosed, if the jackarse disclosed CCW records.

Thanks. I've moved twice to get away from a violent ex. Now I have to move again. I really appreciate you publishing my address. Gee, thanks.

I was thinking the same thing before I saw this response.

You Virginians outta come with a schedule to drop by this a-holes house at all hours of the night and introduce yourselves.  Say, every 15 minutes for a week or two outta get the point across.

He did good work outing someone in hiding from violent criminals.

I hope someone doesn't die over this list:

on the list

Wonderful. After years of moving around, not having a phone or bills in my name, and such so as to conceal my location from a group of rather nasty hoodlums, I find my name and address on this site along with the fact I have a concealed handgun license. Yes, they could have used FOIA to get it if they somehow thought to check gun permits. But now all they have to do is Google. Oh well, I guess it's time to move again. Thanks a lot Mr. Trejbal.

And, no, the knowledge that I'm armed will not scare them away. They'll just set an ambush like when they nearly killed me before. Or do a drive-by shooting.

Christian,
I'm glad that your address has been published.
I've been reading your pieces for a while, and I've come to the conclusion that you would definitely be interested in this great new opportunity I have. It's a chance to work from your home, selling products that everyone needs. Eventually, you won't even have to work. The money will just roll in on it's own. Can I drop by some time tomorrow to discuss this fabulous opportunity with you? I think that we could be friends if you gave it a chance.

Talk to you soon.

5.) Posting of someone else's personal contact information (home phone numbers, home addresses, unpublished e-mail addresses, and the like).

Now that the playing field is leveled, I would like to add that the freedom of information act is a necessary evil, posting personal information on the internet as a "Sunshine Week Gift" is not.

Where do his kids go to school? Where does his wife do their grocery shopping? What movies does he rent? How many beer/liquor bottles are in his garbage every week? What about empty prescription bottles? What organizations does he belong to?

Probably NAMBLA.

Do a search of legal gun owners in the state to find his name.

That since he is not the registered owner, being a reporter obviously doesn't pay enough to not have to rent.

The rest of the info about his home is here at the property taxa assessor.

C, Trejbal
Just to clarify a point that runs through many of the posts here...

This is not a first amendment issue. It is a question of what records the state government maintains are open to public scrutiny. Any Virginian, media or otherwise, may ask for and receive a copy of the information posted from the Virgina State Police without explaining what he wishes to do with it

Hey Christian,
Just wanted to drop you a line to say that your piece was an outstanding example yellow journalism.  While you attempt to masquerade your arcticle as being some sort of unbiased demonstration of the FOIA, you're obviously lying through your teeth when you claim the piece is neither "for or against guns."
No one welcomes their private information being published to the world at large, for any reason.  I'm sure you'd enjoy seeing your credit score, perscriptions, traffic record, and movie rental history published online.  After all, you're obviously so above reproach that there is no facet of your life that you wouldn't mind shouting from the rooftops.
You have also directly put people in jeopardy of violence because of your stupid article.  The Roanoke Times has just published a shopping list for felons who cannot get guns by legal means (to say nothing of being licensed to carry them) but will likely have little compunction about trying to steal them.  Do I need to draw you a picture?  Of course, when a law-abiding CCW holder has to shoot some thug who is attempting to steal his weapon to further his criminal career I'm sure you'll be the first to acknowledge that you had a hand in the situation.  Then again, knowing your type I'd imagine you'd write a trite little politico hackjob on how the presence of a gun was the root of it all and society is to blame.
Please don't delude yourself; you're scum masquerading as a do-gooder, nothing else.  Then again, I suppose for you philosphy major types, the alternative to a career at the drive-thru window is peddling your pet political theories and calling journalism.
Then again, judging by your picture, you're a smug little worm.  I suppose if I were such a self-satisfied little toad, I'd harbor jealousy and dislike to those who showed the intestinal fortitude to defend themselves and their families.

Sincerely,
-Ragin_Cajun

Guys, this is an EXCELLENT example of a well-worded, albeit brutal, letter that DOESN'T come off as something nobody will read.

Notice that Ragin_Cajun doesn't use the words 'liberal,' 'libtard,' 'gun-grabbing (-er),' or use any Nazi references.

All of those things, which occur all too often in letters from Arfcommers to the public at large, give the reader an automatic way to ignore what you're saying and write you off as an ignorant hillbilly or some kind of nut.

Please pay attention to the image you project to the world; you're reflecting all of us.
