In addition to that bill McCarthy has introduced H.R. 1859 which is basically the magazine restriction language of H.R. 1022 by itself.

McCarthy shot herself in the ass tonight. On MSNBC I think, the commentator asked her a few simple technical questions about her bill and she did not even know exactly what it was she was seeking to ban. How do you propose legislation that you do not even understand?

It seems to me this will help the gun owners of America. It is being pushed hard by the "RIGHT", that this is why we need concealed carry on school grounds. I believe a lot of parents will start demanding it.

Helmke was right on one item and Tucker was wrong; there are 33 round magazines available for the Glock. I thought he made it up but Google is your friend:

I still agree with Tucker but this little factoid is available for anyone to search.

Oh and I do agree with Helmke on one other statement; "I hope they will start debating the real issues. And whether that is more guns makes us safer...". I left out the part I disagree with; "or we need to ban assault weapons."

There are 33 rd MAGAZINES available. No CLIPS. That was the point. If the Brady bunghole was so "informed" about firearms he should bloody well know that.

main point here is that the shooter was NOT using a 30 round mag at all and one of his weapons was a .22 IIRC. That pretty much blows the whole theory that the high caps/big calibers are what allows these guys to go on their rampages!

ahaha, i loved that clip of tucker bashing mcgrossy's ungly head in.

He did sound kind of silly arguing against the 33rd "clip" . i hope thats what he was trying to say (it was a 33rd magazine, not a 'clip') even HK makes 31 round mags for the USP 9, but they're over 100 bucks

i sent him a nice email, he deserves it for going up against the brady campaign, and McUgly.

Actually two new bills; H.R. 1859 to ban high capacity magazines and H.R. 1895 (I wonder if there is some significance in the 59/95 numbering) which is supposed to improve stolen firearm tracking (can you say registration?), requires more FFL inspections and the ever popular "for other purposes". No text on either is available yet on thomas.loc.gov.

The funny thing is she may be right on H.R. 297. Improved access to mental health records for NICS would probably have flagged the VT shooter as a wack job. These hourly news updates on this guy are absolutely stunning. This guy was known to be a missing alot of his marbles yet NICS had no record of any problems including the court action against him.
