Looks great! Another Tip/Reminder: You can post pics in Instant Messages. So if someone wants to see a pic of that upper your hawking, you can IM it to them and it'll display as if it's in a thread. Same procedure as specified earlier. |

No sweat brother! Glad I could help. I think the thumbnail option is perfect for those HUGE pics that you don't want to reduce, like an EE sale item that REQUIRES allot of detail to help out prospective buyers. Hep |

My pic hosting service usage habits.
Short term pic hosting, like for an EE sale or jerky reply pic to a troll: Tinypic. You host it and for get it. No need to manage it, once it's sold or the troll is pissed off, the deed is done. Pics of your collection that you want to post, send links to friends to make them jealous (and avoid clogging their e-mail box): Photobucket. You can load several pics at once, give them specific names, group them into sub-porfolios, and it's VERY stable. Greater capability, like posting thumbnail pics or straight links, Imageshack. They also give you a preview pic which is nice , especially if you're load several pics at once. Hunt101 is ass. Flakes out often (so your posted pics turn into red X's) and if they decide you've violated their content rules (which apparently is a moving line) they'll simply DELETE all of your pics, no notice, no nothing. Now you're screwed. Anyone recommend any others??? |

Some questions regarding clickable thumbnail pictures:
Do they ONLY work with an imageshack kind of storage site? Does it have to be a site that creates a thumbnail when the pic is uploaded? Exactly what "code" are you pasting into your post? HTML? Does this "code" have to reference two pictures: one for the displayed thumbnail and one for the clicked link? Thanks, LL |

Exactly what "code" are you pasting into your post? HTML? Does this "code" have to reference two pictures: one for the displayed thumbnail and one for the clicked link? Thanks, LL Do they ONLY work with an imageshack kind of storage site? As far as I know, Imageshack is the only one that does thumbnails, but I'm sure there's another service that probably offers them as well. Does it have to be a site that creates a thumbnail when the pic is uploaded? I believe that it is indeed a function of the site, though I may be wrong. That's a good question as to whether its additional code that creates the "thumbnail effect" of a smaller image with a listing of size. I think if it were just a matter of code it would be featured on web boards like Arfcom. It seems to be a more exclusive function. Does this "code" have to reference two pictures: one for the displayed thumbnail and one for the clicked link? I think it essentially creates a "preview button" to the larger pic. I don't believe it's 2 seperate images per se. Exactly what "code" are you pasting into your post? HTML? As far as Imageshack and posting thumbnails, I high lighted that process on page 1 in this thread. But here it is again: ************************* Here's a tip regarding Thumbnails. In addition to posting a picture,www.imageshack.us gives you the ability to post a thumbnail, which is a small preview pic of the actual pic. Furthermore, this smaller picture acts as a hotlink that when clicked loads a larger version of the image. Like this: You achieve this by using Imageshack.us and following the upload instructions as specified earlier in the thread. Then select and copy the line of data that's specified next to Thumbnail for forums (1). Then simply paste it into your thread. Once the thread goes live you'll see a smaller picture of the image you just uploaded. This smaller picture is a thumbnail that is essentially a preview. If the larger picture is to be viewed, you simply click on the thumbnail picture since it's also a "button" that will load the larger picture. Posting a thumbnail is useful for several reasons; It allows you to post a large number of pics in a single post. It's also very useful if very large pics need to be posted to show greater detail. Ultimately this method of posting saves bandwidth on the web page and also allows viewers with slower connections to have the option of clicking and waiting for the picture of interest to load or bypassing it alltogether. ************************* Furthermore, here is a list of the various Imageshack codes and there uses: "ImageShack® generates automatic image code for your images. Using this code, you can link to your images in any number of ways. Ranging from embedding your images in your personal website or auction, to hotlinking a series of clickable thumbnails on a message board, ImageShack® is as versatile as it is user-friendly. In order to use these linking codes, click anywhere inside the code-box to select the code, then press CTRL+C to copy the linking code. The linking code now exists inside your computer's "clipboard" and can be pasted anywhere. Now, you can open your target location(such as a messenger window or a message board post box) and paste your linking code there. "Thumbnail for Websites" allows you to hotlink clickable thumbnails on HTML-compatible websites, such as your own personal website, livejournal, blogger, etc. "Thumbnail for forums (1)" allows you to hotlink clickable thumbnails on BBcode-compatible message boards and forums. If your image does not show up after submitting your post, please use "Thumbnail for forums (2)". This occurs because some message boards use different BBcode, and are not compatible with each other. "Hotlink for forums (1)" allows you to hotlink your original uploaded image on BBcode-compatible message boards and forums. If your image does not show up after submitting your post, please use "Hotlink for forums (2)". This occurs because some message boards use different BBcode, and are not compatible with each other. "Hotlink for websites" allows you to hotlink your original uploaded image on HTML-compatible websites, such as your own personal website, livejournal, blogger, etc. "Show image to friends" allows you to send your uploaded image to your friends and family, such as by using AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, IRC, etc. "Direct link to image" is the real location of the image on ImageShack's servers. This link is best used for when your message board provides you with a designated field in which to hotlink your avatar, forum picture, or signature image." Did I miss anything? |

Thanks for the reply.
Is it possible for you to post what the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" code looks like without having it interpreted? As in copy the code from Imageshack and paste it in your reply, but put tags around it so it does not get interpreted into a clickable picture. I know I could go and upload a picture but was hoping you could show me since you already have pics hosted. Thanks again, LL |
