Indeed... wow, I would love to have a setup like that... in a country in which it is legal to grow of course.

Amazing, growing a F^*#ING plant is illegal here in the US.

PreMed_Gunner,
I wouldn't have expected a post like that from a soon-to-be officer type.  I could see some UNEDUCATED ENLISTED guy saying that, but not someone with your upbringing.

Of course, I'm not insinuating that you'd smoke pot as a commissioned officer, maybe you'd just like to have the setup to grow/sell pot?  (... in a country in which it is legal to grow of course).

If the rest of you are wondering where I am going with this, there was a post a little while back where PreMed shared his true feelings about the military's enlisted force.  In a nutshell, he pretty much asserted that enlisted members were uneducated and their use of profanity was expected because of their inability to effectively express themselves.  He believes enlisted members join the military because it is the only job they can get.  He called us dirtbags in so many words, IMHO.

Am I correct in assuming that PreMed is/was a pot smoker?  I wonder if the military knows of his longing for a residental pot farm?  (... in a country in which it is legal to grow of course).
I bet they would like to know.

Amazing, growing a F^*#ING plant is illegal here in the US.

No, what IS F^*#ING amazing is how someone can try to belittle the backbone of the military as a whole and then post something like this all the while maintaining he is superior to his undereducated enlisted counterparts.

You Sir, are a Hypocrit.

It IS a stupid war, genius.

Pot is illegal, alcohol is not. Which one is more destructive? Which one is physically addictive? Which one results in more accidents and deaths? Which one kills more people from its direct use?

All the war on drugs has accomplished is to create an enormous, never ending criminal element - the PRECISE way Prohibition did for organized crime.

Treat it like a HEALTH problem and not a crime problem, tax it, and things will be 100% better in this country, right after we ship dolts like you to Argentina.

A five year investigation which resulted with the arrest of a dude growing an herb.

This guys could've had a meth operation that was insane and made 100 times the money he made from weed. Instead he grew something that didn't use poisonous chemicals and is natural.

The fucking war on drugs should exclude marijuana. The only thing more ridiculous than it is the war on porn. The govt can't find terrorists so they bust cheech and chong and a guy spanking his monkey.

Assholes!

I lived in a house in Apache Junction, Arizona that was actually very similar to the one shown here but on a MUCH smaller scale.   The grow room was only 20 X 15 and had originally been a bomb shelter back in the Cold War days.  Some folks bought the place and lit the basement up with grow lamps, running water and sewage.  They ran quite a successful operation but the DEA eventually caught on.

I really wanted to keep that house and use the "grow room" as an arms room.  All I needed to do was reframe the entrance with a vault door and concrete up the roof of the basement.  Sadly, the maintanence and upkeep on the house would have killed me.  It needed to be hooked from septic to city sewer ( 6 grand ) and it REALLY needed a new roof and AC....( 12 grand or more ) and it really could have used new wiring and plumbing, too.......so I got rid of it........

damn shame.......

I'll tell ya, I would LOVE to buy this place at auction.....talk about the bomb shelter/bug out room/ hydroponic gardening/almost self sustaning house from hell!!!!!

+1 and you didn't mention that as soon as you make something illegal, the potency and thus the danger goes up  Alchohol (during prohibition),  pot, LSD all fit the profile (thats just the ones I remember off hand).

The "War on Drugs" continues because there is  an economy built on it.  People who use drugs will use drugs regardless of the substance of choice's legality.  It is a health issue.

Why marijuana is illegal, yet cigarettes and alcohol IS legal, escapes me.Yes I know marijuana is not good for you,but it is far less harmful and less addictive than alcohol and tobacco.

It was originally outlawed for two major reasons. In the southwestern states it was outlawed because "All Mexicans are crazy and marijuana is what makes them crazy."

In the northeastern states it was outlawed because of the fear that heroin addiction would lead to the use of marijuana -- exactly the opposite of the modern "gateway" myth.

It remains illegal because once prohibition was instituted, it became big business.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that makes no sense.  If you're trying to stop the progression of gateway drugs, you ban the first drug on the chain, not the last one.  Presumably the last one would already be banned.

That's like saying we're afraid that people who eat Cheerios might move on to eating Corn Flakes, and we don't want that, so we're going to ban Corn Flakes.

Presumably if Corn Flakes are perceived as being worse than Cheerios, then Corn Flakes would already be banned, and now we're going to ban Cheerios to stop the perceived progression towards Corn Flakes.

I agree that it makes no sense. If you read the entire history of the marijuana laws you will find it hard to find any time that anyone actually made sense.

Here is a good, fairly short, entertaining history of how the marijuana laws came to be -- done by the professor who did the original research for Nixon's US National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse Short history of the marijuana laws

ETA: It also describes how the "gateway" myth first arose in 1951. In short, it was made up by a government official trying to justify his budget.

I bet that that place was designed and built from the beginning as a purpose built growing facility.  There's too much floor space for it to have been a simple fallout shelter.  Also, it seems to be all floor space with little thought to amenities like bathrooms, bedrooms, food storage, food preparation, etc.; no obvious evidence of ever having been subdivided.

One wonders how many more of these places there are out there.

Well as far as the war on drugs goes.....  Here in Oregon you can get a "medical" MJ card that will allow you to grow and posess your own pot for personal use. I have heard that it is pritty easy to get a card if that is what you are into. I belive It lets you grow up to nine plants.

I am personally not into this crap or any other drugs for that matter... And as far as I can tell all the burn out pot heads just went and found a legal way to get pot. Doesnt seem to me that it has somehow destroyed this state.

Meth on the other hand is rediculus here.... and IMO the reason is Drug companys that refuse to stop the sale of Sudafed (or the generic) because of the amount of money to be made. there are products out that do the same thing that cannot be made into meth.

There are very few companys in the world that make ephedrine... it is a major undertaking. eliminate ephedrine and you eliminate meth.
