Reinstall operating system for me.   Not good.  Would not let me open any web pages.  I could connect, but could not open any pages.

My Dell was new as of May 04.

Save yourself the hassle, don't do it.

I can't believe the microsoft apologists here. I am running XP media center, a version that microsoft won't even give me a backup for. And SP2 hosed up so bad I had to take it out, Outlook wouldn't work, 2 or 3 games had bad issues, firewall? It is not a firewall if it says it blocks pop-up but still lets spyware through. And I love the boys that talk about backups, I am a computer user not a techno scarey bunny, I have more shit to back up than Fort KnoX.
As always microsoft put out another crappy piece of code. That is why I am typing this AT WORK on a windoz 98 machine.

Get yourself a Western Digital 250GB USB/Firewire external hard drive and a copy of Ghost. You don't have to be a techno bunny to backup your stuff!

Dude, I have used ghost more than norton has....I meant all of the frikken files for save games, products that need to be activated, PORN, music, games, and all the changes I have made since I started with the plain vanilla can't be restored from a disc media center.
And it is absolutely amazing that SP2 takes FOUR frikken promts to install but spyware can install itself with no quibbles from the OS. Yes I could just back it all up and restore, I may soon, but it is a bitch to know that the biggest eggheads in the world can't figure out how to make a system stable.
