This thread brings back memories, I used to live in Charlestown, each day I crossed the Longfellow bridge to work in Boston, the high point of my daily commute was gazing at the USS Constitution berthed below.

Your build is looking great.

I remember watching my grandpa build a wooden ship model in his basement in the mid 70's.  That thing was 4 feet long and almost as tall at the center mast!  He even built a steam box to bend the wood planking.

Luckily I found a Kinkos printing that could enlarge it big enough.I will have to use carbon paper to transfer the parts to the wood which won't be to bad just time consuming. The planking was really the hard part, the instructions only say that the planks half to be a 1/4 inch wide.Your pictures makes it easier to understand.

Have a second copy of the parts portion of the plans made, and attach the paper templates directly to your wood with low tack contact cement for cutting the parts.

Awesome!

I started this one in college (Class of 1992) and took a break of at least 5 years before finishing it.

U.S.S Dallas Revenue Cutter ca. 1812

The bow and stern are certainly the worst with the compound curves.  I have thought about trying another one, maybe one of those cross-sections.

Coming along nicely.  That copper tape looks great and sure beats a painted finish!

The copper tape looks really good! I wonder if it will tarnish over time? That would make it look even better as the model ages.

It’s a race between finishing the copper taping and running out of copper tape!
