What did op do to get that on there? I'm not a 1911 guy so is that a common accessory that's available and people use?

Springfield makes a great base for a custom 1911, but you have a long way to go.

This is my old IPSC blaster from the mid-1990's

Ed Brown Beavertail grip safety

BoMar sights milled By Ken Hallock

S&A magwell

Hand checkered front strap by me

hand fitted match barrel

etc.

Just Google 1911 light Mount or something like that. They're not uncommon. Good luck with holsters

You'd think if you were only gonna carry 7 rounds it'd be in a teeny tiny gun, or at least a gun that is setup well for reloading

Ok. Looks to be a simple bolt on piece.

The latest modernization of the 1911.  LW 9mm with optic and threaded barrel for can or comp.  Probably should have had a rail.

In some folks eyes....yeah

It's a Wilson 1911 with Hackathorn specs. Awesome carry gun if you are a 1911 guy. Something to make fun of if you aren't able to make a 1911 run.

What are the specs?

I agree.....if I were ordering it again, I would have a rail on it.

Speed, accuracy, and a good shoot able trigger.

Almost all pistol matches (with any speed requirement) are done with a 1911’s modern version, a 2011 with dot and comp, other go fast parts. But the soul remains.

You mock what you don’t possess the intelligence to understand. You will continue to languish while mired in mediocrity. Poke fun at the 1911 and those who are proficient with one all you want. As a great teacher once said, “Nobody cares”.

You can add a pic rail to that but it’s kind of clunky. I had a Dawson rail installed on my EB and it’s a clean, elegant solution. Downside: I don’t think they make them anymore.

Look up Uspsa and 3 gun open division winners. Mostly 2011s, some single actions like CZ, but almost no polymer striker fired guns in the winners circle.

Yeah a polymer pocket gun is easier to carry and arguably “good enough” but full size single actions are easier to shoot better and yield overall better performance.

As a probably one of the biggest 1911 fans on the planet I’m disappointed in the OPs choice to represent that fantastic platform.

How about a gun I was fortunate enough to have Stan Chen work on.

I haven't gotten my hands on a 2011, bit I will rectify that.

I like the slide and frame...I would get some better sights, loose the compensator, install a beavertail, possibly an ambi safety, then I would be fine with it.  But that compensator has gotta go.

I forgot that it was basically a rifle caliber

1911s are cool, it's okay to have cool guns. They're like classic cars.
7+1 in a pistol, unless it's a really tiny one is just dumb, when you can easily carry 15-20 rounds in similar size guns

the argument that they are better for self defense, or duty or whatever is stupid

That pistol was meant to be kept stock.

Someone gave it AIDS.

I love the 1911. But it should only come in two forms: basic, and tastefully dressed up. That one is neither.
