ETA: Honolulu sounds like fun. I would suggest a meet-up, but my wife discourages me from doing a full marathon when we're on vacation. They wipe me out for several days. A half marathon doesn't, so maybe it's still an option.

Looks like on the marathon day they also run a 5k and 10k. Half marathon is March/April timeframe.

Life got in my way today, shorter run than I wanted. But I got some lifting done. Rest tomorrow and a long one Saturday.

Forecast says 88 on Tuesday I'm not ready for 5am runs yet

Things have been sucking lately - some low back problems and my oldest and I have had some weird bug that just leaves us pretty tired.

This afternoon has seemed better all around, so I'm hoping I'll be able to do the long run I missed today, tomorrow.

PSA -- Double-check the charge on all your stuff before going for a long run.

My AfterShokz headphones have been acting up. So, I charged them earlier in the week to confirm they work. All was well. I turned them off when I was done playing. Saturday morning, after connecting, my phone said they had a full charge. They died about a mile into my Saturday run. Grr. But, at > 4 years old, I'm not terribly surprised. Maybe I can talk my wife out of hers, though hers are only about 2 months younger than mine.

I normally charge my Garmin watch on Sunday. This week, I did a couple of long runs on the treadmill and let the watch track it. When I do that, the activity will sync to Strava. But, a manually entered activity doesn't sync. The watch (on a very sunny day) died about 5.6 miles into the run. When charged, it did sync and upload the activity, so all was not lost.

When the watch died, I started Strava on my phone. The rest of the run went well, and I did get a little more than my goal in the books. I thought I had signed up for the "Run a Half Marathon" challenge on Strava, but this one broke into two activities, so I don't think it will count. I don't have much on my calendar this week, but I really don't feel like trying another half by EOD Thursday.

5.6 + 8.0 / 211.9

After describing my woes to my son, he simply responded with "First world problems". I'm not denying that at all.

Long run beat me up today. Traveled today, didn't get to run until about 1:15pm on a damn near empty stomach and dehydrated. Had some gels and water on the run but I knew at mile 3 it was going to be a tough run. Plus 80 and humid.

Have ran 45 miles in the last 7 days which is a record for me by probably 10 miles. I typically have a rest day the day before a long run... But my schedule has been weird and today is the 5th day in a row I've ran.

Sorta trying to talk myself into a marathon. We'll see. Talk is easy lol

About to eat 2k calories for dinner and it will be glorious.

Cheers y'all

Daylight Saving Time starts this Sunday. Just an observation. It doesn't mean that I'll get up and run in the dark, though I do better when I run in the morning rather than at the end of day.

With the weather warming up, I'm mentally preparing to start early morning runs. I don't mind the time of day so much, but rather not being able to see really well.

I do really enjoy getting my workouts done first thing in the morning so it's done

When I run in my hood, there is about 1/2 mile stretch where I don't have sidewalks. Instead, there are a blind curve and a big hill where you can't see past the crest for oncoming traffic until about 30 ft out. I really don't like running that in the dark. My other option, that doesn't require driving somewhere in order to run "safely", is down the interstate roads with wide shoulders. So, for me, it's treadmill or daylight.

Today, I pushed a bit and got my avg times below 10:00 for the first time in about forever.

Felt like garbage, possibly to likely due to an impinged/out of place something around my right shoulder blade. I'm hoping to get that straightened out today so I can run a 5k in really crappy conditions tomorrow.

15.5 is the longest run of my entire life. 900’ of elevation gain. Felt a little tired but also felt like I could have kept going!  48.5 for the week. Also another PR.

Running should be a staple in mental health care, couldn’t wipe the smile off my face with a 2x4.
