2024's plan is to reach 50,000.

This can be met in 50 weeks, or 25.  It only depends on my efforts, and whatever you decide to do.

Strength training will be done alongside.

Let's get after it.

Updating from page 17:

First, we are posting our stats in this thread, and we update them constantly.  I believe that is a good thing.

If we have a visual reference, it might inspire more of us to increase our efforts.  Giving a visual update once a month I think would be very good for those of us who are willing to see what our projected completion is for 2024.  I am sticking to my plan of doing 50k because by year's end, I want to be at 250,000 since 01JAN2021, but for those of us who have no defined goal, the sky is the limit.

I do believe that those of us who are updating our stats every time we do our workouts are willing to be "graphed" but I also think we should all chime in individually in this thread to ensure this.

I will update my first post in this thread to make others aware that if you want to be part of the visual representation, just post an O.K.

Welcome to the party.

Good to see some new names in here.

Arfcom is going to be the pushup capitol of the interwebs.

I'm hoping to finish the 12'rs in Idaho this year and trying to increase a bit of lung capacity. I've given up on lifting and traded it for bouldering, trail running and outside activities. I'm in above average health and eat well.
I walk/run this trail daily, down to the foot bridge, across and back up among other things during the day.

I'm in on this and fucking hate pushups, yet ironically the 50 a day push up for health has been coming across my YouTube feed for a week. I'll commit to 50 a day at this point. Not as many as most of you but it's a start.
Happy New Year.

I’ve been doing 125 a day at 52 years old but I’ll bump it up to do the 50k. Did you do 70k for last year?

Glad to see you join us!

I did 70k from 01JAN2023 to 12AUG2023.

That put me at 200,000 since 01JAN2021.

I bet you can knockout 200 a day pretty easily and reach the 50k mark sometime this fall.

God bless America (that’s my euphemism for goddamn it), I hate push ups.  I’m 56 with bad shoulders, so I’m going to have to work up to 100 a week.

I work out consistently, but I don’t have any workout goals other than finishing for the day.  This will give me something to work toward.

Did I already say God bless America?

I’ll try to avoid breaking my hand skateboarding this year.

Still not back to where it was due to a couple prior injuries to that same hand/wrist, but I’m back to doing push-ups on a regular basis at least.

Waiting for 0001 out here to knock the first sets out.

colawarrior has entered the chat.

All: feel free to encourage others about whatever else is going on during your workouts.  I pulled back my pushup challenge from 2023 because I want to do both strength training (bench, incline, weighted belt dips, weighted belt pullups, etc.) and this.

In previous years, I had knocked out between 60 and 70k and then done strength training.

Now that 200k is under my belt, I want to do both and see how I respond throughout the year.

At 44, I don't plan on this being easy, but I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure I'm keeping pace.

I am currently in the worst shape of my life, so consider me in. I started walking 3-4 miles a few times each week since Christmas. Today I will add pushups to the mix. At some point by spring I will add dips and pullups.

Lets do this.

I do 4 sets of 40 during each of my 3 lift days each week, then 100 on my off days (I max out - usually around 60 or 70, then do a smaller set).   So I guess I’m in for 500/week.

50 reps done. Not timing myself at the moment but less than a second per rep. Will try to get a few more today.

Really glad I saw this thread this morning. Already off to a decent start of 2024.

Well done.

And way to get after it.

I put my phone on the floor and turn the clock app on.

When the minute turns to 00 seconds, I begin, and that way I know my time per set.

I can either go with the pace I feel like setting, and establish a fixed break between sets, or I can just log what time of day I do them without a set schedule.

If I have to make a specific time for 300 reps or thereabouts, I'll usually try to complete sets of 50 every 5-6 minutes.

Just busted out another set of 50 at 1239.  0:44.

1253.  50 reps in 0:41.
1300.  50 reps in 0:39.

400 for the day.

100 to go this evening.

My time per rep isnt super important to me...I'm not competing for position on a team
in 2017-2018 I was in the best shape of my life...running half marathons....gym 3-4 days per week...ripped.

At the end of 2018 I took a desk job with a parking spot 50' from my chair. I got lazy. For five years I've lost all my gains and have become a liability. My whole life I valued fitness, and lately, Ive been off the rails. Time to get back to business and stop being weak.

When I first saw this thread I told myself, start easy and go slow....its been a while. I licked on the '100' per week commitment. Right now, I plan to do that today.

My first set today was 20 and it was harder than Id like....frankly...embarrassing. Then I did a set of 30. Better, but not where i want to be.  I wont set a hard goal yet, but I think this is the start of something good.

10 per day, 70 per week.
