5.5 lbs. per plate?? How thin is that steel? I've got some old AR500 from back in the day and I think they weigh about 11 pounds a piece or so.

Rittenhouse did some running that night. I can imagine that, had he been wearing that set up they would have caught him and beat him close to death and we would not remember his name now.
How many of these is AR500 gonna sell to just have sit in some closet and never be trained with, never set up properly? |

Steel plates are fine. Obviously not as light weight as other types of armor but will be fine for the average joe.
Anyone still talking about spalling splashing off the plate and killing the wearer hasn’t done any research on plate coatings in a loooong fucking time. YouTube is full of videos of steel plates very easily absorbing many many hits and containing all the shrapnel. ETA- here is a decent and informative video worth watching.
