It aint like they update a single router like in your home, they do it in mass across entire ecospheres. |

With as many data breaches as there have been, virtually everyone's info has been compromised at this point. I've had to deal with an attempted identify theft every spring for years. Things are going to be interesting over the next decade. If your company hasn't already been hit, expect that it will, and there is a relatively high probability that you are already compromised. The majority of companies have accounts with high levels of access that have been compromised for a long time. Sometimes the hackers wait years before attacking, or never attack since the access is valuable.

Scammers are in on it as well. They will take advantage of you in a heartbeat. For instance I got the notification my bank account was compromised in a breach lately (not this one). I then got a text "from my bank" last week if I sent a zelle payment of 1k, please respond YES or NO. Needless to say I never signed up for zelle and answered NO. The text that responded said thank you for answering we will contact you shortly. Then I got to thinking and called my bank, they NEVER sent any type of fraud message to me. While I was on the phone the scammers called me phone spoofing my banks 1-800 number. I want to say this phone call sounded 100% legit, did the correct prompts of my bank, never asked me for any personal information, totally professional basically and they were not from India or any other country you could tell. Where the call took a turn is when they said they needed to lock my account down and then they would issue me a new username and password after around 3 hours after the security team was done verifying any transaction. They would send me a link to initiate the "lock down." I was writing all the information down and wish I could have recorded the call but before I lived in a 2 party state and never picked up an app to record on my cell phone . At this point I told him I needed to hang up and call my bank. He was like why since I was talking to him (my bank), I said this phone call was spoofed and doubt your real...then I got the sound of silence and he hung up. Someone better come up with a good reason to be able to spoof a phone call these days. I could see back in the day a big doctors office where the doc calls you from a number that looks like the office number but with technology today the doctor could call the office and then route the call that way. I want to see the exact number call me, not some fake bullshit. |

Thanks @Bubbles I unlock it for a few days, such as my last security clearance, and let it lock back on its own. I never touch it otherwise. Not to drift this off topic but I keep seeing these adds for locking your home title. I have to assume it is asshats taking out loans against your home and then you loose it. If this is the case I assume that locking my credit should prevent 99% of this happening. If this is not the case how do you protect yourself from these turds. |
