I swear I was just browsing at American Tele's the other day looking for a banana yellow one.... long story. I came across this one "Used Fender 75th Anniversary Commemorative American Telecaster Solid Body Electric Guitar" for $699. I liked the color matched headstock and I'm a sucker for metallic paint. I said to my self that price cant be right, I'm going to buy it and see what happens. I was just about to click buy when I noticed Made in Mexico on the headstock. Completely blueballed now I looked at every American Tele & Strat and finally settled on this 2014 60 anniversary edition American standard Stratocaster.
It finally got here today and its beautiful. I charged it up and played to make sure everything worked but sadly I have to hit the rack. I only got 2 hours of sleep Saturday night and didn't do much better last night. Its need strings and the pickups need to be adjusted, they are way low. I should get that done tomorrow night and I'll get more pictures. |

Nice. It's been awhile since I've been at the guitarspotting game, but didn't Clapton and/or Dave use one like this?

Dave's was just like this on delicate sound of thunder and pulse.

You definitely won this based solely on the fact that you ended up with a strat over a tele. Idk why but I just hate those things.

Now I just need a good acoustic and start thinking about getting a new amp. My Johnson Modeling amp is 22 years old now. I had to replace most of the encoders on it a few years ago, I would have replaced them all but I couldn't get the screws for the second circuit board to budge. I'm giving a lot of thought to cheaping out on the amp and getting a Boss Katana, a lot of people seem to be very happy with them. My mind wants an Axe FX III though. |

How much did the devil make you pay for the Strat? That exact guitar is on my need to have list and I’m an acoustic player.
Buy my Martin D-28 and I’ll throw in a used guitar pick. |

Very cool Strat. I'm going to assume that is a mini toggle switch and those EMGs in it are DG 20s.

Nice. Every electric guitar player needs a Fender strat. Not really optional.
Not familiar with those PUPs but if you like them that is all that matters. |

I'm partial to body mounted pickups as well but I have to admit the advantage of a strat with a pickguard is I can just put a new set on a different pickguard and swap them out easily. I'm going to play around with these for a bit before I make up my mind. |

No idea what this is. the controls dont look like emg or 920d custom. Pickuos are SA's. Not happy though, I thought I had some set of strings. If I do I cant find them. Ill have to string it tomorrow.

It looks to me like you have a Gilmour Red Strat setup with an extra function connected to the toggle. I'm still going to guess it's to enable the neck pick up like the Black Strat. https://reverb.com/en-br/item/64921-920d-custom-loaded-s-style-pickguard-w-emg-sa-spc-exg-white-white-pearl |

I think its got a short or the battery pack is toast. I charged it Monday and its completely dead today.
It has one of these RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK FOR STRAT® it says it supposed to last for weeks with a full charge. I like this a lot more than a battery floating around in the control cavity. |

The more I think about it, the battery has to be toast. It's supposed to last 250 hours on a charge and it was dead in 2 days.

Confirmed tonight that the battery pack is toast. I ordered a replacement earlier today because I figured as much. It charged enough that I could plug it in and tune it.

You could block the trem with a 9v and it wouldnt be rolling around in the ctrl cavity . Usually lots of room in a strat for a 9V and a lithium 9v will last you a year. Nice to have those EMGs. Single coil EMGs or 89R's with the extra SA inside (not a coil split) are really good. All EMGs will sound like crap if you dont build new patches from the ground up for them.
Try a Line 6 Catalyst before you get a Katana. Not knocking Katana but the Cat is cheaper per watt and does 6 boutique amps really well instead of 100 amps just okay imho. I have heard that the Katana head and a reg 1 or 2x12 is the way to go if you go Katana also. My sons band has a Katana combo user and they've used my Catalyst 60 on occasion at shows so i have gotten to hear both of them from the audience perspective and on some of their recordings. |

Damn I forgot how much I enjoy dicking around on the guitar. My amp has Gilmour patch so I was trying to learn run like hell yesterday. Damn I'm rusty. Bought 4 more packs of strings and of course immediately found the ones I couldn't find the other night. I'm going to blame that on needing to get glasses.

That could have been a good home amp if they made it compatible with PC. Forgot to mention I already have 2 2x12 cabs. A Genz Benz G-Flex and a Carvin something or other. I really want to build 2 vertical cabs, that may end up being a project for this summer. |

The small (50w) Katana is regularly priced $70 lower than the reg price for the 60w Cat at $299. Huh. |

I've got the IR-2 for use as a rehearsal and backup to my Boogie stuff and generally think Boss makes the best stuff in this market; they have been doing it really well for longer than basically anybody else. I just can't imagine in this day and age caring if my amp is 15 watts or 100. If you are using more than about 35-40W on stage these days you're making the engineer's job needlessly difficult and probably making the mix unredeemably bad in a small venue. |

View Quote Depends on the amp. I have a Mesa Boogie Mark IV which I believe is 85 watts and CAN be very loud. But it has a really good attenuator built in and I can get lots of tones including heavy metal without drowning out a drummer. But in general I agree with the sentiment. The days of stacks and 100 watt Marshall heads on 10 are over. |

Hell yeah, MkIV master race. I run mine with an isolation cabinet for recording and probably will play shows that way with my current band.
I wish they had kept making them instead of the abominations that followed. I haven't tried a MkVII though. |

I've thought about doing one of them so I can run an amp hard but have also wondered if it would still be too loud in a house. |
