It looks like they are doing everything they can to terrify the fucking American public.
American democracy seems to be teetering on the brink of collapse, and writer/director Alex Garland exploits that feeling for unbearably despairing suspense and censure with Civil War, a vision of a near-future in which the United States is no longer united. People are legitimately stressed about the ACTUAL state of the country. It isn't escapist entertainment to watch a movie like that. |

Feel like it's going to be one of those movies where both sides enjoy it for the opposite reasons.
Of course the press will always slant one way just to create controversy, titles such as "Explosive Warning!" I think reviews can also affect how you view a movie before it even starts. I'm going to ignore all of the reviews, not watch any extended previews, and just go in with an open mind to form my own conclusion. |
