Yes, what a shock that you were likely discriminated against by a group with such high in-group preference that India to this day is still largely a caste system.
H1B and L1 Visa holders are NOT supposed to get a job unless the company can document that no American could be found to fit the position. Good luck though getting any justice out of the government. At first the Indians were supposed to supplement the I.T. force and keep labor costs low, but they've been in play for so long now that many of them run the I.T. departments and unlike white folks they have high in group preference without any guilt. |

I find it incredible how this country has allowed the high tech industry to be taken over by these people. Its unimaginable. Yet they keep telling us there is a shortage of people. These are all jobs that Americans are not going to get. Just wasting my time and energy. Couple this with the illegals pouring into the country. If at all possible I will never report to an Indian manager.
I have worked with a lot of Indian developers and for the most part they were good solid people, decent workers too. However, my experience with Indian managers is that the are tyrannical assholes. I got laid off from a large electric utility in January. In one pass they fired 70 IT managers (that include me) and 220 BA's/PM's/DEVs. Rumor has it that they need to cut several hundred more before summer. What is their plan? Have TCS bring in contractors and offshore as much of the work that they can. I do not see this going to work out well for them. I honestly don't care. I am kind if low-key looking for another job, I will probably just do contracting/consulting. |

I was just re-reading Member of Parliament Enoch Powell's "Rivers of Blood Speech" from 1968. Here is an excerpt:
(He argued that journalists who urged the government to pass anti-discrimination laws were "of the same kidney and sometimes on the same newspapers which year after year in the 1930s tried to blind this country to the rising peril which confronted it". Powell described what he perceived to be the evolving position of the White British population): "For reasons which they could not comprehend, and in pursuance of a decision by default, on which they were never consulted, they found themselves made strangers in their own country. "They found their wives unable to obtain hospital beds in childbirth, their children unable to obtain school places, their homes and neighbourhoods changed beyond recognition, their plans and prospects for the future defeated; at work they found that employers hesitated to apply to the immigrant worker the standards of discipline and competence required of the native-born worker; they began to hear, as time went by, more and more voices which told them that they were now the unwanted. "On top of this, they now learn that a one-way privilege is to be established by Act of Parliament; a law which cannot, and is not intended to, operate to protect them or redress their grievances, is to be enacted to give the stranger, the disgruntled and the agent provocateur the power to pillory them for their private actions..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers_of_Blood_speech |

View Quote They may be good workers but every single one of them here has taken a job that an American should have. They shouldnt be here at all as there is no shortage of anyone. Where I live they did this over 10 years ago with the utility companies. I interviewed there and asked where everyone was. They replied that they had laid them off and sent the jobs to India. The only jobs left here was PM's and BA positions. I was flabbergasted that they were offshoring the systems that run the energy grid over seas. Of course they are using TCS or HCL or Cognizant or WiPRO or even IBM or HP. Same deal, makes no difference. I have pretty much resigned to the fact that I am going back to contracting/consulting. You would not believe the ordeals they are making people do to get hired - 5-6 interviews, tests, personality profiles, you name it. I dont need that crap. The best is yet to come. Wait till they realize that AI can replace TCS. |

In the broadcast television engineering the shortage of qualified Americans has been a topic for 25-years. There's just a shortage of American kids who want those sorts of jobs and that's many decades old. So when the entire shop is in their 50s and 60s, when the last job announcements gathered nobody under that age that was remotely qualified or experienced, when enough chairs go empty that the few left can't hardly keep up what do you do?
