Well, thanks to government, that 45k isn't worth anything close to what it used to be, housing prices are retarded and prices of pretty much everything is through the roof.

The obvious solution for our scraggly faced friend would be to put together a realistic set of goals and figure out how to attain them.  Step one:  Find a roommate.  Doubling your household income would go a long way towards making housing affordable enough for a guy making what used to be considered a decent wage.

I don't know very many people who can live how they want with only $45k a year, unless their expectations are extremely modest.

Yes x 87.  See my previous post.  They are competing for housing and everything else with Americans at the lowest rungs of the ladder.  This trickles upward to every class, except the uber-wealthy.  I'm feeling it and I'm nowhere near the bottom.

A HUGE part of the deficit rise under Trump was his tax cut.  The taxes not collected were spent anyway.

However, those taxes not taken under his tax cut stayed in the pockets of Americans who earned them.

Those tax cuts are set to expire on 12/31/25.  You will probably be overjoyed about that because the deficit will decline by the same amount, and if Brandon is elected this year he will take credit for the huge decline in the deficit by raising taxes on Americans who pay taxes.

Full disclosure: I benefitted by the tax cuts because he raised the standard deduction.  I have very few deductions.

People who have skills, and a good work ethic, need to be working and making good money. We need more people in the middle class and less in the lower class dependent on government, which grows government and increases taxes. Who anyone voted for doesn’t matter when the welfare option, is an option.

I grew up with nothing. My parents never bought me a car or paid for my college. I grew up dirt poor in a single wife and was given nothing. I have had to work for literally everything I have. Now, I am doing okay. However, the opportunity that I had, is harder for these young adults now. It is an issue.

The GOP is completely out of touch with this issue and the dems capitalize on it. I am not talking about welfare or handouts, I am talking about the cost of housing and inflation. Dems make sure to point it out and the GOP willfully ignores it.

Housing costs, interest rates and inflation are an issue. The GOP should be out there daily pointing out how the Biden admin and the dems in office created this. The unfettered open border is one the root causes. They need to explain how deporting every last illegal will only help the lower and middle class.

We need to fix this immediately. There's a reason why the criminal party keeps growing. They're masters of enslaving the middle and lower class.

I’ve got no qualms with the tax cuts lmao. But sending billions upon billions out in COVID spending and stimmy checks is what I have issues with. Spending that occurred under Trump.

I don’t know where you get this idea I’ll be overjoyed about the tax cuts going away. If anything I’d be overjoyed when the government learns how to balance a budget like this rest of us. Instead Ds and Rs apply for infinite credit limit increases that fuck us over.

The guy makes some great points. It's silly to automatically dismiss the guy because of an ignorant assumption brought on by his looks. He states plain as day that he votes on the right but has noted a trend of Republicans spending just as recklessly as the Democrats do. He also complains of Trumps inability to clean up the swamp, like he promised. In the end all he did was worsen it. The current trend relating to the national debt is unsustainable, same as SS benefits and our involvement in foreign wars. We shouldn't be involved in any of this shit until our homeless, and indigent veterans are taken care of.

You need to do more research about tax cuts and what they do to how much the government takes in.

Your assumption that they don't get as much is flawed, and possibly quite wrong.

So, the uncollected taxes resulting from the cuts had no short-term effect on the annual deficit?  Did you even math in school?

BTW, I'm for even MOAR tax cuts regardless of their effect on the deficit.

I don’t think we ever necessarily disagreed (except on maybe on which government spending impacted inflation more).

This all started because I pointed out that not all 52% of my generation that calls themselves “independents” is a liberal and how there are plenty of us that are conservative, myself included, who are sick of having our names attached to the shitshow that is the GOP. They still get my vote, usually, but I won’t register as an R voter anytime soon.

I am tired of hearing how boomers had it so easy and that we voted for it.  I always voted for small government.  It was the democrats that voted for entitlements and massive government pensions.  The unions that drove up the cost of living with wages higher than most professionals.

I couldn't afford to put a down payment on our first small house until the wife and I had been married for a year... with two professional career incomes.  It is unrealistic to think a single guy working an entry level job should be able to afford the lifestyle of those who put in years of effort and living within their budget.

And what year was that?  @amannamedjed

Around 1979 give or take.  What of it?  I was young and struggled then.  Young people struggle now for the same reasons.  There are plenty of young people now who have made good financial decisions, built careers, and are buying homes.  I have some nephew and nieces who are living the life through smart thinking and hard work.  It is possible even now.  And there are plenty of old people from my generation who never made good decisions and worked dead end jobs.  And they are paying the price now by living in poverty.

The point of my post was that today's young people think we had it easy.  We didn't.  We struggled just like our parents did, our kids did, and our grand-kids are doing.  The only difference is that today's young people think they have it much harder than anyone else.  I disagree.  It has been hard for everyone, some more, some less depending on their circumstances, their smarts, and their drive to succeed.  You can always find anecdotal evidence that this person or that had it easier or harder.  But on average, not much has changed.

Adjusted for inflation, housing is about 180% more expensive than it was then.  Double your housing costs when you started out and see how easy it seems.

Priest rides the bus to town.  Gal at bus stop says “$5 for a blowjob, Father”.  Priest looks at her confused, and gets off the bus to run his errands.

Gets to the grocery store, and the gal at the checkout counter says “$5 for a blowjob, Father”.  He smiles at her, tells her thanks, and walks out with his groceries.

Drops by the cleaners to pick up his clothes, and the lady offers “$5 for a blowjob, Father”.  He politely declines.

He gets back home, puts away his clothes and groceries, and goes to the convent and knocks on the door.  Sister opens the door.  Priest asks “Sister, what’s a blowjob?”.

Sister answers “$5, Father, same as in town…”.
