I was SO excited when they finally released Pacman.  Got it the day of release and brought it home.  SO disappointed....

My parents got me one for christmas one year. It could have been the Arfcom official edition as it was later referred to as the Heavy Six. Heavy weight plastic and 6 switches on the front.

I still have my Vader Atari 2600.  One of these days I gotta buy a replacement power adapter for it.

My Pi does everything it does anyway so I haven't been too worried about it.

You had to have low expectations and a great imagination with those graphics

Some of the worst I experienced were
ET the extraterrestrial
PAC man
Superman
Football
Baseball
Skiing
And the
The earthworks, waterworld things

I really liked
Pitfall
Adventure
Combat
Air sea battle
River raid
Vanguard
Barnstorming
Stampede
A fishing game?
Asteroids
Haunted house
Joust
Frogger
Space invaders

Not sure how I felt about yars revenge, missile command, wizard of wor, raiders of the lost ark, and night driver but I played them more than I should have

I still have my first 2600 and a 7800 around in storage.  I also had an Intellivision(piss be upon them for the membrane controller guts that failed constantly).  Before we moved from WA State, I took a bunch of games down to a gaming shop.  Some of those old carts were worth a couple hundred.

Adventure
Asteroids
Video Pinball
Dodge 'Em
Good ones^^^
Missile Command was OK. Space Invaders sucked.  Combat (the cartridge the machine came with) blowed huge chunks but it was my boomer dad's favorite lol.

I competed in a regional Atari tournament with my friend that ended up at a Kmart.  The game was Asteroids and I came in second.  My bud was first.  I didn't mind because first prize was another 2600 and second was five new games lol.

Please don’t take this as a personal attack, but I feel sorry for you and the younger people in this world. I’m 49 and was around as a kid when that Atari 2600 came out. It was fucking cool, and as awesome as it was we knew better would be coming. You don’t have that. There is no magic in consumer products anymore. You can hold a device in your hand that allows you to communicate anywhere on the planet like they are next door with video games the offer near video quality graphics...

What can you look for as an encore to that?

I had one. I loved it for Defender, Asteroids, Missiles Command and Pitfall. There were a few other great ones. Centipede I played a lot. Raiders of the Lost Ark, and yes PacMan. I was like six or seven so I wasn’t overly worried about the graphics. They were fun games. I was so glad I never got ET. I damn near did but it was out of stock and my parents couldn’t find it. Lucky me!
