What the fuck is this bullshit!
Is your child deaf? Is your child blind? Then why do we need a sign to let people know your kid is special? |
|
My autistic son doesn't know danger. He doesn't know a car or street can kill him, doesn't know what dead is, or that he can get hurt by stuff. Please don't assume a child with said disability will not get in front of your bro dozer.
That is why. |
|
You got upset over a sign?!
You should probably ask them to put one up at your house, too. |
|
FPNI. Don’t be so triggered bro. The sign probably won’t touch you.

My friend's daughter wears noise canceling headphones basically 24/7 because sound hits her hard. She learned sign language to help accommodate.
They try to watch her 24/7 but sometimes she runs thinking she's alone in the world and a 17 year old has better burst speed than 40 year olds. Side note: She's amazing at aircraft data and trivia. I'm an aviation dork but she has wingspans, MGTOWs, RCS data and these things on instant recall. |

FPNI.
Yore an asshole if it bothers you. The opposite end of the petty outrage Karen-driven world we occupy. |

You have a kid in your neighborhood that may not understand danger or social cues… Assume it’s like deaf or blind, but mental. My wife teaches autistic kids that are runners. Good runners. And… they don’t know anything about the dangers of traffic. Terrifying as a responsible adult. No shade on the kid, just slow down and be mindful. |

OP is the guy that weaves in and out of bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway doing 35mph over speed limit and thinks everyone else is the asshole.

I guess Hillary was right, it takes a village to raise a child.

Then why are you upset about a sign saying there is an autistic kid in the area? Do you get pissed when people put the turtle holding a flag out on the side of the road to let folks know kids are playing near the street so pay attention? |

Quoted: What the fuck is this bullshit! Is your child deaf? Is your child blind? Then why do we need a sign to let people know your kid is special? View Quote Clearly you lack the intelligence to research and understand what AUTISM is. Are you incapable of understanding the risk you present to the Autistic Child who likely does not perceive passing vehicles as the danger they are???? The kid may hear you coming, see you coming and mentally not connect that input as danger and just walk out into the street in front of your car. |

Quoted: Imma just gonna tag this thread to see where it goes. View Quote I've posted here before that I have an autistic son. He's really doing well now since hitting puberty. He's starting to "get" things better and the stuff he doesn't, he is learning how to fake it till he makes it. But when he was young, he was totally clueless. I had to watch him like a hawk and bark orders at him like a drill instructor in parking lots and around busy roads. And he has always had it good compared to other kids with autism that I've met while taking him to therapy. I understand the need for the sign. Anyone who has been around autistic kids would. There is absolutely nothing cool or funny about dunking on kids with disabilities or parents who might put up a sign. OP should take a time out and read a bit more before getting all pissed about a sign. |

Saw one today too, in Holt FL. So what are we supposed to do differently? Pay more attention beyond what we should? I saw the sign so my attention level seemed okay. Slow down below the posted limit? I don't want to be like the dreaded bicyclist and impede traffic. I'm at a loss.

Quoted: Damn, Millenialls are soft View Quote Lol. I was born in the 1960’s… before we landed on the moon. In that time I’ve gained understanding of some things. 1. Autism makes people -especially kids - act in unpredictable, or even self harming, ways. Out of a lack of understanding. Because, you know, they’re autistic. 2. You’re either trolling, or drunk, or an asshole. None of those are great options, but two can be corrected easily… up to you. ETA: Upon reading more, I think I know which. How weak a bitch do you have to be to complain about disabled kids??? Is this where we are now? As a supposedly grown ass man? Jesus. |

You should know that a kid might wander into the street randomly; whether it be because they don't intuitively know the street is different than a sidewalk, or because they cant hear, or they are chasing a ball. Just keep an eye out and cover the brake when you can. |
