Am I just drunk, or does that mean a standard bolt would drop right in? Well, I am drunk, but my stupid question stands.

Is it a 22lr barrel or 5.56?

Since the .22LR bolt has a 5.56 chamber adapter, it sure looks like with a normal bolt and mag you'd have a normal AR.  I bet most CA FFL's wouldn't want to transfer it.

Look at that bolt

That barrel is chambered for a .223 case

It also says 1:7 twist

I’m betting that gun is just a regular 6920 with a .22 conversion

Gas tube in place?

ETA:  Yeah, it looks like they just swapped the bolt and other than that it’s a regular M4 6920.  Legal in Ca because it’s a rimfire so none of the assault rifle nonsense applies

I guess as long as you dont have a 5.56/.223 complete BC in the residence you're gtg?

No, it doesn’t matter. Having another bolt in the house doesn’t make the .22 illegal.

The difference is that a 22LR rimfire barrel has smaller land & groove dimensions which would make shooting 223 Rem dangerous.

22LR = 0.217" / 0.222"  (diameters for lands / grooves)
223 Rem = 0.219" / 0.224"

It certainly looks like a centerfire rifle with a 22LR conversion kit dropped in.

Let's assume it is a regular AR barrel.

Set up as a rimfire rifle, it is 100% legal to sell, own and shoot.

There is no problem owning a centerfire bolt that fits.

Assuming the barrel has that 0.224" bore and has a gas port and gas tube,  if the owner wants to shoot centerfire ammo, he has to -
*  Have a fixed magazine that holds <10 rounds OR
*  Remove the pistol grip
*  Remove the flash hider
*  Pin the stock so it does not telescope

Even in its collapsed condition, the rifle is more than the legally required minimum of 30".

If there is no gas system, it can legally be used as a manually-operated, magazine fed, centerfire rifle; or as a single shot rifle.

You just have to know the laws and configure the rifle in a legal manner.

There's also this Australian rifle to consider.   In fact, it was featured in a recent arfcom thread; I believe the video was about shooting pest kangaroos.

Colt factory or did AU just buy 5.56 6920s and aftermarket .22 bcg and mags?

Since they say it can't be converted to centerfire, maybe no locking lugs on the barrel?

That thing is ugly.  The Troy .223 pump action rifle looks better, but years ago I heard they had issues with them.

The stock on that Troy rifle leaves something to be desired when it comes to looks.

To be an AW in California it must be semi automatic and center fire. Since this is Rimfire it’s not an AW.

The easiest way to make any AR California compliment it to separate the upper and the lower. It’s no longer semiautomatic. Cal DOJ has said this is a compliance option.

CALDOJ doesn’t care about the ease of conversion

There’s no constructive possession of AW in California law. You can have a complete upper and complete lower seperated in the same box and it’s not an AW

That was my thought.  From the pic it just looks like a 6920 with the CMMG conversion kit.

It says "as configured" it can't fire centerfire ammunition.

Yup, the 22 conversion kit is a fun way to get around it. But any company can simply just separate the lower and upper and send it (assuming lower isnt banned by name) and you are compliant.

No one fucking cares here, run your shit how you want.

That's what it looks like to me.  That's a standard barrel, and chamber.  That's an M4 with a .22LR bolt adaptor.

I like it

Some of you should learn to read....

"Same Colt M4 mil-spec rifle, configured in .22LR"

It's a Colt 6920 with a .22LR bolt and a .22LR magazine.

Hmmm

A Piston gas tube replacement on a DI rifle would be legal with all the evil features.

It’s just a manually operated rifle then.

Of course a DI bolt would just drop in.

I think you're talking about a carrier, rather than a bolt or a gas tube.
