I knew they would try this. There's no way in hell Biden could get re-elected, even if he could last through his first term (which he won't). And Kamala has even less of a chance than Biden in 2024 if she takes over once Biden gets confined to a nursing home. So they desperately need someone more electable to pair with Biden to carry the torch.

I thought this was tricky because if she becomes POTUS then there is no longer a tie breaking vote in the senate for a new VP to be confirmed and they could deadlock at 50/50. I must be missing something.

Why are they claiming they think the position is going to be open? Here's the possibilities:
1) Harris resigns. I really doubt this. She's terrible, but nothing specific that would cause her to voluntarily resign. All she has to is wait and Biden might croak from natural causes. Then not only is she president but she's the Historic First Woman President. And she's supposedly just going to resign for no particular reason beyond really low poll numbers? 2) Harris is assassinated. This isn't something that would be planned for, and if it was, it would be a very small group of insiders planning it and not something telegraphed ahead of time. 3) Harris is 25th Amendmented out of office. It doesn't appear that the 25th allows the VP to be removed for inability to perform the duties of the office, just the President. But even if it did, yes she's terrible, but nothing that would meet the requirements for the 25th Amendment. 4) Biden resigns. I doubt Dr. Jill Biden would allow this. Anyways, a vacancy for the VP would be downplaying the much bigger implications of Biden resigning. 6) Biden is assassinated. Same as #2. 5) Biden is 25th Amendmented out of office. I don't think this is very likely, since a lot of Biden's people would be out of a job and replaced with Harris' people. But it's the most likely of all the unlikely scenarios listed. Still, same as #4, talking about a vacancy for the VP would be downplaying the much bigger implications of Biden leaving office. The President can't fire the VP like he can fire a cabinet member. The VP is an elected office. I think this is going to be a big nothing. |

The problem with Harris stepping into the Presidency is even CCN was just bagging on her. Why would the Party allow the Propaganda wing to do that? Except to re-program the loyalist for a change? It would take months, it would be glorious! Nothing would get done. Meanwhile, Harris would look like and even bigger fool as POTUS, they can't hide her as well there. Even if they had super majority and great congress, it would still take months, the GOP could hold up a VP nomination forever. The Senate would be 50/50 with no tie breaking vote, it would be fantastic!
