I've heard from several contemporary sources that Earheart was not a good pilot. Also quite unlucky which is always a good trait to have in such a dangerous line of work as aviator in the late stringbag era.

Coconut crabs. They found pieces of human bones and several personal effects linked to Earhart in a makeshift campsite IIRC
