Did you? Post it. Pics, vids, stats, pr's, maps, whatever, post it up. There's quite a few riders here, maybe we can get some regular traffic to this corner of the ARF.

ETA, Making this winter friendly for the skiers too., Feel free to post your ski sessions too!

Snuck a 10 miler in today and a 4 mi hike a bike yesterday. Foliage is a bit dull this year, but popping pretty nice in some places.

Nice pics.  Looks like a great place to live/ride.

I got in three rides this week: Del Norte in SW Colorado, Moab, UT, and Eagle, CO.  On a work trip.  Might as well bring a bike!

Thanks, NH is pretty great (for now) I certainly could've done worse.

With that being said, you're in MTB mecca, that's some beautiful scenery. I have to make a pilgrimage out there someday.

I'm only venting here because I know you guys get how much it sucks to not be able to go mountain biking.
Ill get through it.

Did my five miles around the neighborhood last night.  Plan to do it again, some time today, before the weather gets really bad.  Then I'm stuck on the indoor trainer.

ETA:  I love pictures.  Collect them on many hobbies and interests and some of my favorites are over the handlebar pictures, like the second one in the OP.  Makes me want to go out right now and buy a hardtail and hit the trails!

I pulled this one off FB this morning:

My last good ride was Saturday up at Rowlett Creek Preserve in North Texas.  Had a great time and managed 10mph average on a super twisty trail, even though the trail was really crowded.  I ended up stiff arming a tree because of someone walking the wrong direction, listening to music and not paying attention.  Thankfully I was going really slow when I got near him as he was "drunk" walking.  Still no clue why he suddenly side-stepped into my path.  Idiot was the only one I was rude to on that ride.  That's just the travails of trying to mountain bike in a big metro area.   It's still safer than road biking here.

Unfortunately we've had 7.75" of (badly needed) rain since Monday, so the trail will be closed for a quite a while until the clay dries out.  I only managed about 4.5 miles on Monday before the rain chased me home.  Planning to take my bike south when we head to Texas Renfest next weekend.  Riding around the campground will get some exercise and be really good people watching.

So is busting wheels on Fattys a common occurrence, or just when running super low air pressure?  And what kind of average elevation are you running at?  Asking for a lowlander friend.

I've gotta get me a Fatty one day.

Busting them apparently is for me.

On my hardtail i rarely had wheel damage, but I rode it much more... lightly. It was 68° head with 100mm fork....and this one, 64° and 150/150.

On this full squish bike you have so much more confidence to send shit full blast... ive busted two carbon wheels on it so far

Im running 9psi now... should actually be fine but i was sending over some chunk the last two days.

Edit..elevation...

Out here in between 6-12k... 6k is where i was riding today... but big rides can send us way up there.

Yeah, that looked like carbon.  I've dinged up a couple of aluminum wheels pretty good and it was expensive enough.  I'm not looking forward to the day I break one of my carbon wheels.

But I'm old and usually ride pretty conservatively.

"Usually"....

ETA:  6000 ft...  good grief.  I only deal with that when I'm in the Black Hills visiting family.  Dad's place is just over 5900 ft.  Us NTX people think 800 ft is high.  I like my air thick.

What bike?  I don't love how hard tail fat bikes generally bounce over stuff.  Not as sophisticated damping as a shock.

Foes mutz.

If your bouncing your pressure is too high...

But 150mm on a coil, with 4.4" tires is pretty damn smooth.

What format are your races? Is it a single lap XC race?

Was just able to squeeze in a quick 4.7mi/1Kft ride in after work today. Steep hike a bike in the backwoods, tested out carrying my bike strapped to a molle frame and then spun out a few miles around my hood..

This one was a one lap xc style team race.
We raced in the four man team. They add all 4 team members times together and that’s your teams time. I think we were 5th out of 9 or 10 teams. It was just a fun event. You could also do a 2 man team.

Most of my races are 25ish miles, one lap races.

Nice, that sounds fun. There's a couple little XC series around here I should get in on. I've done some Enduro/DH racing in the past and I've really been missing it.

Got 12.5 today, was hoping for a bit more but still a good ride, good techy climb, bomber run down a fire road and a mix of pavement and trails to round things out.

This evenings ride.

Ended up have to walk some of the technical climbs. The leaves have all fallen now, most of the trails had 6”-8” of leaves my rear tire just spun trying to go up. The downhills were super sketchy, I couldn’t see the rocks and roots. Still a great time.

Nice ride.

Yeah, you should get into racing. I have a blast doing it. I’m not good but I just set goals for myself each race, like crushing my time from last year and stuff.

I’ll do a total of 7 races this year ranging from multi lap xc stuff to enduros. I just have fun doing it.

ETA:  I’ve gotten two third place finishes this year, one in one of the small xc races and one in a small enduro race. The larger races I do are huge to me 200-300 people on the starting line. There’s anywhere from 40-50 guys in my class and some are still pro riders. I’m excited if I place better than 20th in those races.

Yeah, getting cold (had the forehead freeze going last night down that fire road) and leaves are mostly down here now too, though some trails are already blown clear.  It makes for interesting riding, pretty draggy and slick, can't read the trail surface and its easy to lose the trail when descending.
I'm not complaining though, just happy to get out there.

Right on, good job, no shame in 3rd. I know for me, just getting through a weekend of DH/Enduro racing without a crash/mechanical is a task unto itself.

I managed a few good finishes locally though, but like you, against a big regional field it was a different story. Getting on the podium in a regional race is a long term goal of mine, just haven't had the time or money for a couple seasons.

Some small local XC races would be good to focus my training and get used to the nerves again.

Some race pics:

Get at it, it's not always easy but at least riding is fun.  And just wear some cut off jeans over your bike shorts, nothing wicks like denim.

Just a short little 3mi loop for me today, fighting a little cold and strapped for time. Hoping for a good ride tomorrow.

Sweet!

Do we have a thread dedicated to ride pictures?  I'll have to check!

When I was younger, I had a real interest in photography but the cost of film and developing kept me from ever pursuing it.  Now that digital is here and I finally decided to (ie, was forced to) get a smart phone, I've dipped my toes in the water a bit and I'm surprised how difficult it is to get really good shots.  Makes me appreciate the artform even more.  My wife has wanted a digital SLR camera for years and we finally picked up a used on a few years ago and I just broke out my old Canon point-and-shoot and the damn thing still works, although I'm not sure it's better than (or even as good as) my cell phone camera.

I only have two real ride photos and those are a couple I snapped with my cell phone, just to show my wife, who was patiently waiting in the car, what my ride was looking like.  This was also my first real single-track foray (ie, single track and a suitable bike).  Didn't think to try and get the over-the-handlebar shots that I love.

ETA: I was not on a mountain bike for this ride.  I was on an off-road touring bike that is basically a stout-tubed, road geometry bike.  It does have 53mm tires, though.

That's cool, step up road gap?

Get at it, it's not always easy but at least riding is fun.  And just wear some cut off jeans over your bike shorts, nothing wicks like denim.

Just a short little 3mi loop for me today, fighting a little cold and strapped for time. Hoping for a good ride tomorrow.

A couple rides ago I cleared the road gap for the first time in a while.  Took a year off and lost some of my jumping ability.

Yea it's a bit of a step up.  Actually a pretty hard jump to clear, there is barely any lip, so you need lots of speed and you have to boost it pretty hard.

Good ride today. Modest angles. Some fire road climbing, lots of windy singletrack, a peppering of gravel to link trails, and some playful, new school stuff. Kept in cruiser mode till the end.
