10 years ago I would have said yes.

Now there are a bunch of 10mm options out there.

G-29 ergos aren't for everyone.

Try a few different ones before you buy.

Get a Glock 30 and an extra G29 barrel and mag.  Now you will have a .45 and 10 mm....oh and change the spring/guide rod to a 21 lb tungsten. You will be happy!

Of course.  Buy all the Glocks.

I'd go for a G20, G40, or a Smith M&P. 29's not the easiest to shoot.

Yes you do, a G29 is my daily carry.

Got a 29 in my IWB holster right now.  Also have a 20 and a few 1911 in 10mm.  More guns are better than less guns.

If you’re like me then you just need another g26 or g19 to add to the pile

I ditched 10mm and .45acp to make more room for 9mm

Have all the Glock 10mms.  G20 is a big bitch.  Too big for CC IMO, more a woods carry gun.

G29 is concealable, it's like a fat G19.

Get the 10mm G4 G29. Then get aftermarket ‘drop-in’ barrels in .40S&W, .357Sig, and 9x25 Dillon. Nothing else is needed beyond the extra barrels as these cartridges will run fine off the 10mm mags and stock RSA.

Now you have a 4-in-1 gun.

Why not a full, size 10?  The 40 does much better in a compact.

Ya know a G27 with Winchester 180gr 40 will likely shoot faster than your G29 with same weight brand.

I have one, and I’m comfortable shooting it… now.

I have large hands and ended up using a bench grinder on the finger grooves and opened up the area where my middle finger rests.

long story short, I was tracking a wounded deer late in the day a couple years back. I then saw its head and ears silhouetted against the snow, using 200 grain underwood ammo, I made a headshot at 65 yards. Longest pistol shot I’ve done on a deer.

I put a lighter trigger in it, plus a lone wolf extended ported barrel.

For self defense ammo the 10mm and .40 are nearly identical loads. Combine that with costing less to shoot and easier to find than 10mm, the 10mm ends up not being very practical. However if you wander into woods where large predators exist you can some potent hard-cast loads from Underwood that will justify calling .40 Short and Weak. Also the 29 loses some heat with the short barrel.

How could you not need one?

I was wondering this very thing. Does the 10mm REALLY lose so much velocity in a 3.7” barrel to the point it’s essentially a .40?

I have a G20 I love but it’s a chonker that’s tough to conceal.

If you're set on a Glock, this.

I got my G20SF specifically for a full sized 10mm with capacity.

We're gun nuts. You THINK it's tough to conceal.

The reality is literally no one cares or notices. I carry full sized pistols every day to include a 2011 which is bigger. Dude I carry my 45-70 around sometimes on Independence Day and I sometimes get one nasty look and most years zero.

People aren't looking and thinking about guns all the time like we are. Even if you have it slung on your shoulder, their head is in their phone, they don't care, or they just assume you're supposed to have it.

Stop worrying about this and carry what you want.

You're trying too hard.  I've carried full sized guns and often +2 mags for 25+ years.  Did I ever print? Maybe, I don't give a shit, nor did anyone who may have noticed.  Carry whatever you want.

All fair points. It’s just so… thiccc. I’m prolly over thinking it.

That said, do I also need a G29 like the OP? I think so.

IIRC it's comparable to .40 out of a 4.5" barrel. I put a 4.5" barrel in my 29 so I wasn't trading velocity to carry a smaller pistol.

Love My G29 Gen 4. I added a KKM barrel and Wolff guide rod and 21lb spring. Here is the real world width comparison next to 2 G19's and a 43x. It still conceals nicely in my Milt Sparks 55BN.

First off, of course you need one. Do you reload already?

And for the folks who vote G20, that’s fair. But as a fellow MD native, I must remind you dudes that OP’s new piece will come with 10 round mags regardless, so why not get the 29?

That said, he’ll eventually get a G20 also and get 15 rounders from PA.

A G29 is on my list. Go for it, OP.

It’ll be different depending on ammo but the difference may not be near what some guys are thinking. If I could only keep one it would be the G29. You’re getting a chunky G19 with more potential.

Underwood, Buffalo Bore, or sig crown.

Those care the only options that should be considered that I know of.

The test results I saw for V Crown between the two was something like 76fps lower for the 29 then the 20 and still 200fps more then advertised velocity of the 40s&w loading of the same weight from Sig.
