My first reaction is fuck no, but then I think about all those bidnesses that exist to support productions. And then I think "well they (the working stiffs) made their bed so they need to lie in it," so I'm all over the place with that one. But I certainly don't give a shit about rich actors striking who tell me to give up A/C and eat bugs while they fly private to Cannes and eat crudites.
Just wondering what the hive mind thinks. |

Production of Family Guy has been stopped by this strike.
If this means that they might stop making The Simpsons then I will be pleased. I think the general consensus of GD is that the world would be a better place if Hollywood burned to ashes and almost everyone who worked there was arrested for various and sundry crimes against humanity. |

I lost my client and main source of income while in Thailand. I was also hospitalized twice, the latter time for dengue fever. I was scammed and had my hopes dashed and destroyed and ultimately had to come limping back to the USA, down to one income only (which I detest).
Would any of them care about me? |

Oh, indeed I do. I hope that they strike until every damn one of them is penniless and homeless.

Fuck them. Play some Star Trek, Gilligan's Island, and Sanford and Son reruns, and I'll be fine.

I don't care about any workers on strike. If you want to go on strike, have at it, but I'm not going to care at all.

The strike does not just affect actors. Stuntmen, makeup people, set designers, and even cafeteria workers are impacted.
One of the biggest reasons for the strike is big companies like Disney and Netflix aren't paying residuals. They claim there is no way to track how many people are watching movies on streaming services so they can't determine how much to pay. Of course, the truth is they do know how to track viewers and are just pocketing the millions of dollars they make on movies and TV shows. I know people in the business that I care about so, yeah, I do care about the strike. |
|
As far as the actors/writers are concerned I could care less. They can end up on the street giving blow jobs for a bowl of soup for all I care.
The support people, food service, drivers, etc…..I feel bad for because they are just working stiff’s getting a paycheck and getting nothing out of a strike. |

While a few movies were being filmed here, I worked security for the set. Generally speaking, the working stiffs involved with the productions tended to be pretty conservative and had a fairly low opinion of most actors. Some of the big and medium name actors were pretty cool, but most were assholes who believed everyone was beneath them. Three in particular who were pretty cool were Peter Weller, Jake Busey, and Jonathan Schaech. Bill Paxton was pretty cool as well.

If California fell into the ocean, I’d feel bad for the children and the very few decent people left there. Otherwise I’d view it as a win for humanity.
If that doesn’t answer sufficiently, fuck almost all of Hollywood. Bunch of pedophile communists. I know there are some good people left but they’re so few it’s not a savable industry anymore. |
|
I care about all members of SAG, who are also members of Arfcom.

Don't give a shit about Hollywood striking.
Now of the porn industry goes on strike I'll be upset. |
|
I don’t give a fuck and I’m sure they feel the same about everyone in the “fly over” states

95% of my TV watching at the moment is reruns of Star Trek, Walker Texas Ranger, and MacGyver. I think I'll make it.
|

I haven't watched a new release movie or tv show in a long ass time. I mostly watch older movies. Don't give a shit if X-Men 12 or Spider-Man vs Batman is delayed, dumb movies for dumb people.

Even before the latest strikes, many recent streaming series went two years between the first and second seasons. Add in the trend of only 8-12 episodes for the first season, and sorrynotsorry but woke bs isn't the only reason they're losing audiences.
Fortunately there are plenty of good shows I missed during their original runs 10-30 years ago if I want to watch some TV in the evening. Not to mention, BBC and other foreign offerings. I'm not particularly concerned about Hollyweird strikes. |

Kinda, but also no. Smaller actors aren't raking in the dough, but I honestly think their concerns about AI are largely overblown based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the technology.
Some things they want addressed likely won't pass constituional muster if it ever went to court anyway. A voice actress that I actually like recently caused a shit storm by attacking a guy that created an AI edit of her voice. She claimed that he "stole" it, but logically, a machine emulating a voice isn't any different from a human doing so. It'd be frivolous to legally protect that, because then it'd also apply to human impressionists, and anybody that happened to naturally have similar vocals as them. |
|
Not in the slightest.
Don't know what they are striking for. It's not like they have done any creative work in over 20 years. They just pump out leftist propaganda infused into any high dollar titles that happen to make it thereby ruining everything. Star Wars, Star Trek, All of the Marvel movies, etc etc. |

View Quote You can NOT impersonate someone if there is a reasonable chance people wont know the difference. You can do it as parody or homage. One of the big issue on the table with this strike, is the studios want to essentially take background (extras) who are paid very little and the "lowest" caste of folks on a set, and essentially take the image of those people, to reuse over and over again, without paying those people. That aint right. I once spent an entire season on a major TV show, working as background....most everyone in the industry starts there. Your entire life is on hold. Getting 10-20 bucks an hour base (and overtime) to be there, on standby, 10-15 hours a day. Each week, waiting on the call sheets to see which days you need to be there. All to be "blurry guy #7" in the dream of getting a line, or getting 3 qualified vouchers, and filling out that Taft-Hartley paper work (getting into SAG)....which happens, but not much. |

The strike will have a lot of tangential effect.
Hoping collateral damage is minimal. |

I got rid of the TV and cable years ago. The Reality shows crap and sports trash talk got nauseating. It was not entertainment. When Mrs. Piggy grabbed her rotten crotch while singing the National Anthem, I had enough. I'm a Vet and don't give a crap what some piss ant sicko thinks. Sing it right or don't sing it at all. What, ESPN doesn't have a patriotic spine to broadcast it at all but will show a porn show at halftime? Screw them too. I don't miss the trash one bit. When the shows all copy the same poor script with different characters, and so predictable storyline, forget it. If all you got is mostly naked women and four-letter words, you got no talent. I want something I can watch with the family. I hope they all find new careers that match their skills, preferably janitorial or garbage pick-up. They certainly produced enough of it.
