I have no idea why I started doing it, but it just feels right to give each make of pistol it's own color holster. I can't be the only one.

I have OWB holsters in tan and black that I switch depending on the color of my clothing for the day.  Tan pants/khakis, brown leather.  Jeans or suit or dark pants, black leather or kydex.

I can't say that I do

Haven't run into any problems with just black holsters so far

Color coding for what? What is your purpose for color coding.

ALL my holsters are black. I keep the simple things simple.

I've labeled them on the backside of the holsters for clarity of what fits what (too many pistols & holsters I guess).

But never felt the need to go mono-color for each different handgun.

I got a tan kydex holster to match my Glock 19x just because I thought it was neat. Most of my holsters are leather though, so no color coding there.

One color for each handgun, as long as it's black.

When I used leather they were all brown/tan now that everything is kydex they’re all black.

No.  As long as it's not pick or purple I buy the cheapest color.

I have one Tan OWB holster, all the rest of my IWB and OWBs are black.

All of my EDC/Competition pistols are either G19, 17 or 34, so they can all share the same holster.
My G22, 35 and 21 take a bit wider holster that the others, also black.

The other pistols I have don't get holsters as I just carry them out to my home range or the gun club range...

I do match my gun, my belt, and my shoes.

But not my holster.  What kind of weirdos do that?

I've found (and others I know) that using a holster similar in color to the underlying clothing helps a lot when open carrying to assuage soccer mom hand wringing.

If you're 100% concealed, it doesn't matter what color it all is.

Yeah..  pistols - black.  Iwb pistols - black.  Glocks - black.  And so on.

I mean, I have quite a few holsters but not so many that I feel like I have to color code them.

No.

I have a three-drawer thing, top is Glock holsters, middle is HK, bottom is ‘other’

OD green and MAS gray seem to be the only colors that make it into my cart.

Nope. Black holsters for me.

No but I use a pink paint pen to label what gun they're for since digging through a rubbermaid tub of holsters trying to find that one variation you need sucks

Yes, in that they are all, black.

I use use paint marker on the back to write the pistol model for similar holsters

This holster is color coded for this particular pistol.

Oddly enough, having specific colors to specific guns is how I choose to simplify my holster pile. Most of my holsters have always been Vedder so they look alike. Colors become the simplest way to grab and go.

I have way too many pistols for that to work, lol

edit:  Silver sharpie or paint pen and label what they are for on the back side of the holster for me.

I remember when Moms Demand Action minions were making vague "man with gun" calls to 911 when they'd see a guy carrying. They were happy to see us killed by the cops.

A tan holster is for the gun I wear most because I mostly wear khakis and it's a teeny bit of extra concealment.

My son has a zombie green one for his Vedder IWB for his Makarov.

He says "weird gun, weird holster."

"This is the way".

Sharpie (Silver works best across most colors (black, green, tan, blue, ect))  Denotes what gun & what light that holster fits.

Is a label maker too far off the Arfcom reservation?

My handwriting isn't exactly the greatest.

I guess, maybe; my color code is more situational dependent.

IWB mostly gray fuzz wrapped gray kydex, or the same combo in black for carrying compacts or subs when I will spend significant time sitting.

OWB carry for the smaller pistols black, brown, fde, or gray.  OWB carry for larger pistols black, fde, gray, or multicam kydex.

OWB carry for my nicer full size pistols and revolvers get cordovan, black, or brown leather holsters.

My J frame gets whatever color my pants are.

Training, battle belts, bug out bags, and plate carriers get RTI compatible multicam for all pistols regardless of size.

Gray, or tan for my car mounted RTI wheels depending on which car or handgun. Many of the above holsters RTI compatible and can go anywhere.

My trigger guards are all black.

My Hill People Gear recon bag is ranger green.

All of my handguns are kept in a holster, or trigger guard at all times except the J frame, it is sometimes in a pistol case because I don’t have a holster for it (yet).

When my holster and pouch collection spilled over into the second tub, holsters for each particular firearm got either shoe boxes or ziplock bags depending on quantity.

What does this accomplish unless you are carrying a huge variety of pistols, which I tend to view as less than optimal.   Big collections are nice.  Choosing and using a fighting handgun is something different.

Well, my technique ( for the handguns I carry ) is to store the loaded handgun in one of the holsters for it, usually OWB. I have multiple holsters for some of the weapons like IWB, So when I grab it, it is already loaded, has the other mags right next to it and is already in the holster I will probably use.
