[Last Edit: Scratch45]
I get together with three of my old NAVY buddies every year.  We all live in different parts of the country and rotate to whose area we go to.
Anyway, when they come out here, we usually spend a couple days driving around WA State and camping.
I always toss my keys to them and let them drive.

I do this with other friends on road trips as well.

I could care less who drives, but it always seems to surprise people when I do this.  I think it just mixes things up and helps a little with the sense of 'adventure' - makes them involved in the trip in a different way.

So like..you never get on a airplane?  A train or a bus?  You have never been a passenger on a boat?

Or is it just cars for some reason.

Ha,  fuck no.  Unless there's some sort of extenuating circumstances I wouldn't let most of my window licking buddies ride my bicycle..  my wife is the only one I'll let drive and even then I pout a little.

Sorta yes. Not randos, but I've let family members drive it. My dad's driven it, as has my wife, though my wife has no desire to do so again.

I'd let my daughters drive it as well - and I've told them so - but neither has taken me up on it yet.

My car has a manual transmission and I don’t trust anyone else to drive it without grinding teeth.

I really hate when I get my car inspected, but thankfully most places has someone who knows how.

One place didn’t and a guy almost ran me over with my own car while I was standing in front of the bay.

Sure.

When I had my Challenger R/T 6 Speed, I let people who could drive a stick drive it.  It was a fun car to drive.

Yup.  When they come out, I let 'em drive.  Catch up on old times, etc.  I just keep filling the tank.

I make my son drive as he is 16 and needs experience.

He can fly a plane so I can trust him with my car.

Depends but not usually. I let a kid that worked for me drive my dodge with a cummins. You'd thought he was driving a peterbilt. Blowing smoke and grabbing gears. Made his day for sure.

Yes.

My ego is threatened by someone else driving my vehicles
while I'm a passenger (or teaching new drivers).

That be like riding bitch on a bike.

Short answer: it depends

I have a friend who is fairly well off financially. He’s let me drive several cool cars - C6 Z06, R35, his C5 Z06 race car. He’s a driving instructor at our local track as well.

The day I bought my SS 1LE, I handed him the keys and said “drive it like it’s yours”. I know he has the skill to drive it and he has the money to fix it if he fucks it up.

Most people? Fuck no, you can’t drive

My daughter sure, although she usually wouldn't want to. My sister-in-law when I had bad chemo days and just couldn't quite drive home. Maybe my younger brother. Can't think of anyone else...

Rarely. Usually after an odd shore fishing trip if I'm beat and my brother is good I'll have him drive while I take a quick nap

I love to drive. So does my wife.

For some reason she prefers I drive when together.

To the point of I jave.to say I'm falling asleep. Most of the time followed up with look Drive or Die.

That with her new car.

I'm in need of a fun daily driver. Not sure where I would stand on it. Wife and the three people mentioned in Hot rods below.

Plus a few other friends I know who don't have accidents

I know one guy who had had one to 2 accidents a year since 16. He is a little older mid 50s . So somewhere a little north of 40 wrecks.

I wouldn't let him pump gas.

My Hot Rods select few. Three that I can think of.

Delivery vans you got a pulse and not an idiot.

My wife can drive my daily driver Tacoma,  but not my new Silverado or my '67 Camaro.

And I love my wife but there are limits....

Hail no.

However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I've had to ride bitch with wife driving lately.

Scary. I've learned to stay quiet (for the most part) and watch the scenery.

I can count on one hand the number of people I've let drive my vehicles, and only once without my presence (I was in the ER).
