Have you ever seen any sizable dog get a hold of a cat?  The cat is typically dead within seconds from the shake.  When there are multiple dogs, they some times play tug of war.  Dead is dead. Isn’t that good enough?

Does the fact that I hunt and fish make me more predisposed to kill kids?

OP probably already had them put down, per Arfcom's guidance.

Recalibrate your sarcasm meter.  So maybe.

According to some posters earlier in the thread, using the transitive properties of GD MATH, …the answer is yes.

According to sane people… the answer is no.

My apologies, in normal times I'd have noticed the sarcasm but this thread is full of people making just such claims.

I worked at a boatyard back in my early 20’s and we had 2 GSD trained guard dogs. We had a stray shop cat that used to hang out during the day but usually would get out before we released the hounds at night. Came in one morning to find the shop cat dead and stretched out about 4ft long.  These were trained guard dogs though and not pets. They obviously didnt differentiate a domesticated cat from a wild animal. They just saw it as prey.

The OP edited to say it was a stray they killed. Doesnt mean they are pet cat killers. They probably saw movement in the tall grass and prey drive kicked in.

Gaslight her OP. Gaslight her hard. Go get a new cat. Doesn't matter which, just a new cat. If your daughter says "That's not my cat." Tell her yes it is. "But my cat was orange, this is black". Honey the cat was always black, your talking nonsense.

The doubt and uncertainty will scar her throughout childhood.

In an ironic twist, our daughters cat, who was like 99.87th percentile for height and length life for a cat, that would bring us squirrels, even the occasional rabbit, it would cold vertical jump onto a cabinet that was almost 7 feet tall.  It was like a Shawn Bradley cat.

Well, our daughter’s hamster got loose one day while she was at school.  The GSD and Collie just weren’t interested in such a small critter.  Or an indoor cat.  But the cat was.
The hamster was replaced.

The truth was revealed around the time she was in college, not while she was in grade school.

My husky got ahold of the neighbors cat when I was in high school. It was fucked up, but not fucked up enough that I would mistake it for my own cat. I guess you're right about the tug of war factor though.....

So, what do you mean exactly?

If you had a cat, and two GSDs and they killed it in the woods or out in a pasture you would kill your two dogs?

If some random other person’s cat was in the woods or your pasture or back yard or whatever and your dogs killed it you would shoot them?  Would you shoot them if it was a rabbit, a squirrel, a rat, an opossum they killed?

Or, in the unlikely event your cat survived acres of woods and fields, etc. without getting done in by coyotes or ran over or whatever, and it was in my yard or pasture, and two of my dogs killed it you would shoot them?

Where is your line?

Sounds like dogs need an extra treat and a belly rub, for removing an invasive predatory stalking your land.
