I finished it last night, it was okay. Not bad, but not great, say 3 out of 5.
The good: sets looks good, you could tell they put some money into the series. Goggins stole the show. I kind of enjoyed the flashbacks more than the post bomb story. Vertibirds were cool. Some of the minor characters were more interesting than the main characters. Not so good: honestly I thought it was kind of boring for a Fallout story. Not enough gun play, the gun props looked lame, and just not enough guns from the games. Lucy used a tranq gun through most of the series, Maximus just used a 10mm and Goggins had his stupid cowboy guns. Lore wise it was hit or miss, for example how did Lucy know what a BoS Knight was? BoS were douchebags, but I supposed that is kind of lore correct. Bad: humor fell flat, I maybe chuckled a couple times. Felt like they were trying too hard, ie “my cock gets hard and explodes like a zit”, stupid. Maximus’s character was completely unlikeable. Not sure if that was intentional or if he’s just a horrible actor. The relationship between him and Lucy just felt forced, like they were just trying to shoehorn in another interracial relationships for some reason. Nothing wrong with that, but I can’t be the only one to find it weird that all the major characters in the series were in interracial marriages. Ending was stupid: Click To View Spoiler So you fired up a cold fusion reactor. How does that fix all the infrastructure that was destroyed by the nuclear exchange and somehow power up a whole city that somehow still has working lightbulbs?

Considering that when you pop a psycho in the games, the player character screams either "FUCKING KILL!!!" or an R Lee Ermey-worthy battle cry at maximum volume. (If you use hotkeys for chems instead of the pipboy, you'll see him inject them) And enemies yell similar obscenities back at you while you dismember them using your shotgun, chainsaw, or grenades... The games and the series are both 18+ for a reason. Kharn |

Again, it’s an M rated series based on an M rated game franchise. I don’t mind sexual humor, but at least make it funny. That’s where they failed in the series. The games were always funny, not so much the writing in the series. |

Why do studios have to add that shit to everything? It never adds anything but cringe. View Quote Sexual themes are typically seen as the opposite side of the coin of violence. Both sex and violence are emotional tropes that appeal to the base levels of the average viewer. If you can't hold an audience with your plot or your acting, then a few explosions or tits can sometimes sway the ones who aren't on board and keep them on board. Plus we live in a world where entertainment has been moved very far down a certain path of expectation. Any time your general audience sees a show is rated mature, they expect things. Its why the PG13 rating carries such a stigma with hardcore horror movie fans, they know its going to be neutered in some way to appeal to a wider audience. When I watched this show with my wife, her response to the sex scene in the first episode was (I shit you not) "we get to see the guy's ass but Lucy wears a full length wedding dress for the whole time?" And she wasn't wrong... it was the most PG13 sex scene I think I've seen in a while. It was a prime time 90's NYPD Blue TV sex scene. I was honestly shocked they actually showed Nude California Republic tits in the episode with vault 4, as it seemed to me the show was playing pretty coy with the nudity and sexual themes. I get it that as a parent you have certain things you don't want to expose your children to, but modern mature rated entertainment is a game of brinkmanship. They were showing bare ass on broadcast TV in the 90s, so everything gets amped up and amped up to deliver more and more, greater and greater levels of titillation to the audience. Its the nature of mature shows now, and has been since ever. I remember watching shows on Showtime with my dad in the 80s that were way out there in terms of sexual content and language. And if that stuff bothers you, then sometimes the show in question just "isn't for you". Lord knows there are a dozen or more modern shows my wife wanted us to watch that I just could not keep watching due to subject matter or themes. Everyone has a different limit. |

If folks can't deal with adult topics, adult humor, raunchy stuff, death, and gore they probably should not expose themselves to it. Never played the game but I thought it was good. The flashback scenes did a decent job of filling in the back story

If you're a trans man does that mean you are a woman being a man or a man that is trans? |

Boys play fight, wrestle, are fascinated with the military etc from birth till death. Violence is in our nature and most people that are sick in the head can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. I have no problem letting a 12 yo watch SOME rated R action movies with me but I would never watch Porky's with them. You don't remember Fisto? New Vegas Strip? Gomorrah? Cass? Yep. All I know is I played 3, NV, and 4 and there really wasn't a in your face sexual tone. I am not saying adult content doesn't exist in it but from my experience if you weren't out looking for it you aren't going to be overwhelmed with sexual content. I never played before 3 so I am speaking from my experience with 3 on. Seems the show is based on 3 and on anyway. I never said there was not adult content in the game it's just something you have to seek out to notice. The show starts in with the cousin fucking talk from the get go. I am still watching the show I just wish it was possible to make shows without that stuff honestly. It's just my personaly preference to watch porn when I want to watch porn but when I want to watch tv I don't want cringy tv porn that serves no purpose. |

So straight white male = negative attributes, female or PoC = positive attributes is the theme of the show's characters. But I'm guessing that poor dude is a Squire. And it's basically a hazing aka Alpha move by the Knight to make his "bitch" carry the sack. Right? |
