As much as I loved the seafood haul, I have to decline the offer this time.

There have been some developments. It turns out I've been suffering from mercury poisoning. I had some really big mercury fillings in my teeth that were done back in the '70s. They've been poisoning me 24 hours a day for the last 45 years. Anything touching them (including the tongue) causes them to release vapor for long periods, and of course eating and drinking means I've been breathing in and swallowing this stuff for most of my life. The doctors were shocked at the level of mercury found in testing. They were surprised I'm still alive.

Over the last six weeks I've had work done by a specialist to have the amalgam fillings removed and crowns put on. That cost $6,000. But the source of poison was finally removed. I just got the last crown put on a few days ago.

I'm now on an intensive regimen of chelation therapy to remove the mercury from my body, taking mercury binders and glutathione, among other stuff. I also require many supplements during this process. So I'm taking a large number of pills every day. I was being poisoned for so long that my organs are saturated with mercury. It's estimated that it could take 3-4 years of this therapy to remove it all. I've just done another test to see what kind of progress I've made in the last couple of months but I won't know the results for a while.

So as much as I loved that King salmon, I have to stay away from seafood for the forseeable future. But thank you, I do appreciate it.

Other testing showed that I'm also missing a gene (a pretty common thing to not have it) that makes it more difficult for my body to clear heavy metals, so that just made things worse. Oh, they also found that I have a high level of arsenic. That was another surprise, we're still trying to figure out where that came from.

We also found that I have Hashimoto's disease, which caused hypothyroidism. I'm on medication for that now. Still doing some experimenting to nail down the exact dose I need, but we're getting there.

I've been put on naltrexone, an anti-inflammatory, and that's helping to control my intestinal issues so my symptoms aren't as bad as they were. The jury is still out if I will need surgery for the ulcerative colitis.

I'm starting physical therapy for my back with a new therapist next week. My last therapist moved out of the state and it took a long time to get a referral for a new one, but that's finally happening.

Some other good news is that I just did a nerve study last week. I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and need surgery to fix them. I did a nerve study four years ago, it was found that my wrists were really bad and I needed surgery very soon. I was waiting for the first surgery on one wrist to be scheduled when covid happened. All non-essential surgeries were put on hold indefinitely. If you weren't dying, you had to wait. It was two years before they started opening that up again. By then I had many other issues going on in my life, worsening health, my dad passed away at that time, my mom was in the early stages of dementia and needed care (she just passed away last month), and other things. So I wasn't able to get back to getting my wrists fixed for the last couple of years.

I finally got that ball rolling again recently. It's been four years so I had to do the nerve study over again last week, which showed the same results as last time. Now I'm waiting for my doc to send a referral for surgery and get the first one scheduled. I'm not sure how long it will take but at least it's finally in the works again. Hopefully the surgery will have good enough results so I can start riding my motorcycle again. I haven't been able to ride for the last five or six years.

Wow.  My old boss at work also needed to have all his fillings from the 60s-70s removed as well.  Not sure what his level of poisoning was but as far as I know he completely recovered.  Makes me wonder about myself now as I'm pretty old.

Wow, quite the laundry list of problems, but at least it seems like they all have names now, which hopefully means solutions.

That's quite a laundry list but generally the known is better than the unknown so you can at least plot a course of action.
