Figured I would start a thread on this as I know there are several victims of GAS here myself included. Granted I just started learning and am loving it!
1) Ibanez RGRT421 on reverb that came with upgraded locking tuners, Graph-Tech bridge saddles, Graph-Tech slotted tusq nut and a gator hard shell case for $590 shipped. Mint condition. Previous owner bought it new three months ago and upgraded it and then listed on reverb to fund a custom bass. I’ve already had a “New Guitar Day” thread when I got the guitar so some of you may remember it. 2) Today, 15JUL23, I ordered a Boss Katana 50 MKII bundle that came with a tuner and some picks from Sweetwater. I have mild symptoms , too many guitars for a guy who can’t even play.
Best I can do is hammer some chords and pretend to finger pick… Attached File |

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

My coworker has a pretty wild collection of guitars. He's been in the concert industry for over 30 years. He brings around a stack of cash to go hit pawn shops after we park the tour busses at the venues.

I have been playing since I gor my first guitar when I was 9, Christmas 1964. All I have left is my 1968 Gibson ES 335,Gibson Les Paul SG Custom (believe it's a 1961), and a 1965 Yamaha classical nylon string guitar.

When you have so many guitars you start hoarding amps instead.

Need to get off my ass and learn to play. |

GAS is a terrible thing, over the last 25 years playing, I'd go through stages where I'd need 3-4 strats, a few teles, several les pauls, and a couple SGs, and at least one Martin and Gibson acoustic...not to mention multiple Marshalls and Mesa Boogies, some old blackface Fenders and an AC30. My gear was always better than I was.
Don't get me started on basses, drums, cymbals, and keyboards. |

Mine isn’t really guitar as much as gear acquisition syndrome. When it comes to guitars I have this desire to draw everything I can out of a basic guitar. I have a MIM Nashville Tele. I’ve probably had it for 20+ years. I’d like a hollow body and something to relive my hair metal youth… but otherwise I’m good on guitars.
Now start talking about amps… pedals… way too many pedals over the years… mandolins… ukuleles… basses… etc. So many more instruments I’d love to own and learn. Thankfully my wife helps keep me in check whether I want her to or not. |

Sweet! You finally got your guitar. That’s awesome man, Ibanez aren’t my thing (too flat of a neck) but they are awesome guitars. Guitar are like guns… you can never have enough. That being said, practice and use a metronome or play along with the track. When you can start playing your favorite songs the. Celebrate and buy the next step up. You’ll know way more and know why you want from a playing perspective. Awesome dude.
