Figured I would start a thread on this as I know there are several victims of GAS here myself included. Granted I just started learning and am loving it!

1) Ibanez RGRT421 on reverb that came with upgraded locking tuners, Graph-Tech bridge saddles, Graph-Tech slotted tusq nut and a gator hard shell case for $590 shipped. Mint condition. Previous owner bought it new three months ago and upgraded it and then listed on reverb to fund a custom bass. I’ve already had a “New Guitar Day” thread when I got the guitar so some of you may remember it.

2) Today, 15JUL23, I ordered a Boss Katana 50 MKII bundle that came with a tuner and some picks from Sweetwater.

Had a fender MIJ squire bullet and peavey amp for years and decided to learn to play around 2017.

Harley Benton LP and Tele
2018 MIA Strat
2020 LP Classic
12 string Washburn
6 string Orangewood
Guiterlele (down play it though, was free)
Marshall dsl40
Still have the bullet and peavey.

Still need to get a good Tele type guitar.

I have mild symptoms , too many guitars for a guy who can’t even play.

Best I can do is hammer some chords and pretend to finger pick…

My coworker has a pretty wild collection of guitars.   He's been in the concert industry for over 30 years.  He brings around a stack of cash to go hit pawn shops after we park the tour busses at the venues.

I have been playing since I gor my first guitar when I was 9, Christmas 1964. All I have left is my 1968 Gibson ES 335,Gibson  Les Paul SG Custom (believe it's a 1961), and a 1965 Yamaha classical nylon string guitar.

When you have so many guitars you start hoarding amps instead.

Same affliction, luckily I've only bought 2 guitars, but like 4 amps. Need to get off my ass and learn to play.

GAS is a terrible thing, over the last 25 years playing, I'd go through stages where I'd need 3-4 strats, a few teles, several les pauls, and a couple SGs, and at least one Martin and Gibson acoustic...not to mention multiple Marshalls and Mesa Boogies, some old blackface Fenders and an AC30. My gear was always better than I was.

Don't get me started on basses, drums, cymbals, and keyboards.

This is more of a GAS trigger thread, than a support group.

Oh yeah, WHY THE FUCK DONT WE USE "GAS" HERE ON ARFCOM? For us, it would mean Gun Acquisition Syndrome. Or even Gear. I see it all the time on Strat Talk, why not here?

My babies. Both '85 Made In Japan Fender Contemporary Standards. Complete with the esteemed System 1 tremolo. Heidi & Anastasia, respectively.

3 Taylors.  310CE, Big Baby, and GS Mini mahogany.  All bought from 2000 to 2013.
1 Breedlove WR Cedar/EIRW.  Bought last Sunday the 9th.
1 Larrivée C-05.  Bought in February.
1 "Les Paul" built by me.  Started 2000.  Finished 2002.

I went shopping today for a .357 magnum and I held off buying one because I think I'm going to find another Fishman amp to add to the collection soon.

Mine isn’t really guitar as much as gear acquisition syndrome. When it comes to guitars I have this desire to draw everything I can out of a basic guitar.  I have a MIM Nashville Tele. I’ve probably had it for 20+ years. I’d like a hollow body and something to relive my hair metal youth… but otherwise I’m good on guitars.

Now start talking about amps… pedals… way too many pedals over the years… mandolins… ukuleles… basses… etc.

So many more instruments I’d love to own and learn. Thankfully my wife helps keep me in check whether I want her to or not.

I am like many in this thread way overdid it.  Especially when you consider the only live playing I ever did was open mics with acoustics.  All the electric gear never left my home.

Cycled through a lot of stuff like PRS and Collings electrics but sold all of them.  Only kept my Strat and some of my Ron Thorn custom guitars.  Acoustics I cycled through a lot of them like Martin and Gibson but sold all them and only have 2 R Taylors, a McPherson and a K Ryan.  Oh and an old Yamaha that for some odd reason plays and sounds like a guitar way out of it's league price wise.

Also went overboard on amps.  Now remember - these never left my studio.  Most never got dialed past 4 volume.  And most are gone now.  Seriously I'm old and amps are heavy.  I do kinda miss the blackface amps but it's covered with a Vintage Sounds custom Deluxe Reverb copy.  Some pictures below of the family at one point.

Recently took up bass guitar and not finding gas as strong.  Very happy with my first purchase a Fender Player Plus Precision MIM and an Ampeg amp.  Getting old but not dead yet.  Working on my first song Whiter Shade of Pale.  YEAH BABY.

Sweet! You finally got your guitar. That’s awesome man, Ibanez aren’t my thing (too flat of a neck) but they are awesome guitars. Guitar are like guns… you can never have enough. That being said, practice and use a metronome or play along with the track. When you can start playing your favorite songs the. Celebrate and buy the next step up. You’ll know way more and know why you want from a playing perspective. Awesome dude.

Artec P90, OEM G&B bridge humbucker but I popped off the fake "Wide Range" cover and put the open cover to match the P90. It splits well.

Had a '60 tweed Champ for a while, and a '57 Bassman for 10-15 minutes.
Currently have an early (FEIC) '65 Super Reverb, two '66 Super Reverbs, a '65 Reissue Super Rever, along with a VibroKing, a Tungsten Cortez (5e3) and a bunch of others.
