My one and only ND was in the garage. Racked the slide on a 10/22 three times and pointed in a safe direction and it went off. Dumbass didn't check the chamber. No idea why the extractor didn't work.

I've been in a bedroom when a 1897 Winchester went off with a dove load. I think I was 12 or 13.
it was quite loud. BITD, no one had dummy loads. he was showing me the action and how it worked. the hammer followed forward when the pump went forward. never trust old guns. ever. never trust new guns. ever. my father always had a rule. when a gun is out inside the house, it needs to be pointed at the bottom of a corner. the wall died that night. lessons learned. I have dummy loads for damned near every caliber or gauge I shoot. the house I build on my land will have a clearing barrel. |

I've never fired a gun inside. Never had a negligent discharge. Never pointed a gun (loaded or unloaded) at a human. (Had a couple of occasions where it could have happened but turned out it wasn't necessary.) My grandfather was a very good teacher and gave each of his 3 grandsons their first gun at the age of 9 years old. I was the youngest of the 3 grandsons. I'm 62 now and still have that .410 ga shotgun. Spent years being taught little by little about guns and gun safety before we got our guns. It was nice because he lived out in the country and we could just walk outside his back door and shoot out there. I think I was maybe 11 or so when I was allowed to go out and shoot by myself.
I don't know how he knew how to teach kids, but he did. Maybe that's the way it was done in the old days. When I was maybe 16 or 17 and he was in his late 70s, I went to vist him and he pointed out a hole in the kitchen wall. He made a lesson out of his negligent discharge of a .22 rifle. He was going to clean it at the kitchen table. He was a carpenter and built me my 1st gun cabinet a few years after he gave me the .410 shotgun. |

I once fired a Ruger Deerfield 44 mag carbine out of my bedroom window to kill a coyote trying to get into my mom's chicken coop.
I didn't have the muzzle out the window. Yeah, it was kind of loud. No hearing protection either. I was 16 at the time.

Did not vote, not a choice that works for me. I was trying to make sub loads in a 30/30. It worked somewhat but was not consistent in velocity, had a bullet stop 2 inches from the muzzle. Tried everything to get it out.
Loaded another round when I got home with a tp wad and put it in to a stack of phone books. It was so slow it bounced off the phone book, did not even break the cover. So yes I have. |

Yes, negligently.
I was about 17 (2007) and if the 20ga shotgun had not been pointed in a safe direction (the ceiling) when I pulled the trigger, my best friend (at the time) would likely be dead. The same shotgun was pointed right at him moments before. We were just "fucking around" and I almost "found out." It was still loaded from the most recent hunting trip. No shame in admitting my mistake and I learned a very good lesson that night. |

Accidentally fired a 22lr Colt Woodsman that wasn’t functioning properly indoors and shot a computer monitor.
Put a round in Finger nowhere near trigger Pulled slide back, boom there it goes Annnd that gun went to a gunsmith afterwards. It was acting up before that and not feeding well but it never did that. My mom has numerous times told a hilarious story about my uncle, when they were kids / teenagers in the 60s, shooting a rat inside the house with a shotgun. Their parents were not happy.
