I've got a couple of older acogs, they still run great.

Although not in current favor, my favorite red dot is a RX01NSN.

SRO trades off a small bit of durability for the biggest window in the business. In the span of a year, 80% of the guys I shoot USPSA and 2-gun that run an MRDS to switch. I have two that I liked a lot when I got them but have had loss of zero twice and froze over in cold weather and fucked it completely until I took it inside. I wouldn’t buy another until they make an enclosed model, and frankly, the 509T is a lot better for my astigmatism. I’m willing to trade the slightly smaller window for a clear reticle.

I’m talking out of my ass and only reporting secondhand anecdotal, but mostly to bring it up: I don’t see much about the SRO breaking from falls or whatnot like the window shattering etc, but it seems like I hear a lot of users reporting the optics simply turn off one day and need warranty work to get running again. Dunno though, I’ve only used the RMR.

It's an ADM mount, and it lines up the RMR for 100% perfect co-witness with the Troy Micro HK style sights.
Leaves the RMR window completely clear when the sights are flipped down.
I love the setup, perfect for a .300 pistol.

I’ve busted one (on Gen3 G19). It took a little abuse before it busted but the glass finally gave up the ghost the last drop onto concrete (perfect drop in the wrong way). Can still see the dot and dare say it can still be used if you were pressed to do so.

I still rock one, got it just after the GWOT kicked off. It has the chevron reticle and cyalume glow stick backup. It still works as well as the day I got it-yes, the tritium is dim but if it’s that dark I can’t see what I am shooting at so I don’t care. It sits on a rifle I pull out once a year and drag thru the woods so it’s perfect for that because I don’t think about it or the rifle outside of that.

In my personal experiences, Holosun has been solidly underperforming against the competition in terms of reliability/durability

I have had:

- A SCS just die for no reason...just stopped working.

- I received a replacement SCS from Holosun, and I was happy with that service. The new one came with screws that looked shorter than what I had on the original one... After about 200 rounds of 115gr FMJ, one of the screws sheared off and is now a little nub stuck in my G19 MOS slide. I've heard about several other people having Holosun screws shear off on both rifle and pistol optics.

- A 508T where the window was very obviously wonky and asymmetrical.

- A 509T-RD that would not tighten properly to the dovetail mount plate.

I just don't trust Holosun anymore.

I dropped a 407k a grand total of once and the corner of the lens is cracked. It’s still fully functional and it’s not a big deal, but I’m definitely kinda butthurt given all those Sage Dynamics drop tests.
