Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I use a battery pack for my nods.  Actual counterweights...  are kind of eh.

I should probably clarify, it's to balance out my 7 year old son's helmet.

Get the cheapest one you can that will integrate with the back screws and holds the batteries you need for your PVS14, I guess.

Who makes this one?

I ordered a Mohawk from tnvc this morning then got an email tonight saying it could up to 24 weeks before I receive it. No thanks.

Just get a Mohawk knockoff from Amazon and throw some spare batteries in there. If that's not enough, there's lead strips available that are sized approximately.

I would have appreciated if you lead with that, now I have to discard my write up of recommendations including sealed sachets of cocaine, prophylactics, and rolls of dip.

Battery holder would be dual purpose.

4 x 12g 00 card or 3 x 5.56 stripper clips. If you're gonna carry weight at least make it something you might run out of.

How permanent do you want it? EOG makes a long thin bag with Velcro on the back that holds lead strips. Other vendors sell the TNVC Mohawk now which has more Velcro, and tabs that can run paracord around the helmet screws and holds batteries along with lead strips. The Ops-Core one posted above hard-mounts to the helmet screws.

All of them work. 1/2 pound of lead will perfectly balance a PVS14.

ETA: Kids definitely need counterweight even for a PVS14. Even with good helmet suspension system, their necks can't handle the forward strain without it.

Yea I was editing my post when you posted this. I would scrounge around to see if another vendor has it. I have an older OSOE counterweight pouch but it’s made to hold the older strobe along with a couple of rows of batteries I’ll send you if you want.

TNVC has some good options.  The mini admin pouch could easily work using AA batteries.  Here is a link.

I really do appreciate that! I've ordered a few different types to try out to see what will work best, then I'll pass the others along to those that need it.

I've compared the cheap amazon counter weight I have to the more expensive "real deal" ones and there was zero difference. Probably made in the same factory.

If you really want a mohawk, get one of the airsoft ones from amazon.  Their easy returns will let you check it out and send it back if you don't like it once you got it in your hands.

I cut up an old uniform top and sewed it into a pouch shape with a piece of velcro on it. Shaped a couple of small lead bars to fit against the helmet and put them in the pouch. Stuck it to the back velcro on the helmet and tied some 550 cord to it for good measure.
