Since my attempts to avoid cornea surgery continues, I find I can no longer use iron sights. The various prisms I have on the AR's work just fine, but their issue is the mounting bases are both a permanent part of the optic and high as hell. Not really workable on a .22.

I would like to find a very low profile prism of at least 3x or even better, a prism scope that allows to use of standard low profile rings. Light weight would be nice also, a lot of these things are close to a pound.

Unfortunately, the only scope I've found that comes close is a Monstrom.

Anyone out there have knowledge of a very low profile prism  like the link above from a better manufacturer?

The monstrum will be good enough for a 22

Try it , ride it hard and if you don't like it , return it.

You could try a Leupold 2.5x20, you may have to get the parallax adjusted. iirc Leupold used to offer that. No idea on rings. Depending on length of pull you may be able to get it very low since eye relief is about 5".

Is your Marlin drilled and taped for a scope mount?

I wonder if you could dremel a slot in an aluminum base to work with the primary arms micro prism.

If not than a low power scope would work the best imo. A weaver k3 would probably look pretty good on it too

Unfortunately, a standard scope won't work.  Cannot focus on the crosshairs.  I need the illumination that a prism gives me and an LVPO is pretty sizable and heavy.

Hmm, then maybe sacrificing a cheap mount might be the trick

Would this work?  I have something similar on my Marlin 1894.  Screw holes line up with ring mounts.

eta: this would open up your scope options.

eta2: Evidently there may be some fitting adjustments, depending on your particular 39A.  You may have to file or dremel the mount to fit the radius at the front of the receiver.  See the comments in the Brownells link.

You don't focus your eyes on the reticle, you adjust the focus of the reticle to match your eyes.

Primary Arms makes a physically small, light weight (8 oz.) prism sight with 3X magnification.

It can be mounted with the optical axis just 1.1" high.  Well more than half that height is the diameter of the optics, themselves.

Go there and explore what they have to offer.

This image is intended to show the sight height.

This. No difference between a prism and an illuminated scope.

Look for a Leupold 1.5-4x Firedot. Only 9oz and daylight bright dot.

Plus, with red dot scopes, you focus your eyes on the target.

It's not a matter of focus.  It's a matter of seeing it at all.  The cataracts interfere. Same issue with red dots.

Right now the ONLY sight that is usable is an illuminated reticle in green.

If you are interested, I have one in the original box, virtually unused, I'd part with for a nominal price plus shipping.  The sight a really neat concept, had it on designated slug gun but never used it and sold the gun so...
