I have an opportunity to get a brand new Hercules sliding miter saw for $270. It’s way cheaper than the Dewalt and they are both made in Taiwan. Any experiences with Hercules miter saws? It would just be to build things around the house or for repairs.

I bought its predecessor. I bought the 12” compound sliding saw for $99 with the coupon. Got it to do one project. A decade or so later it’s still going strong. I use it all the time. It gets abused and keeps on keeping on. Molding, deck, pond dock, and many other things. Don’t mind throwing in the back of the truck and it cuts about anything. I was well surprised.

I agree with you get what you pay for but sometimes I wonder if cheaper is good enough for occasional work. Dewalt has always been my go to but I’ve heard that they have been slipping.
