I just rebuilt and installed a holley 600cfm on my 350 chevy. Truck starts and runs well but I am experiencing a high idle issue that I need help with. During the warmup phase, the high idle is around 1500-1700 rpms. If you tap the throttle it will not drop down. After high idling for about 4 mins, you can tap the throttle and it will drop to a normal idle, around 750.

It has an electric choke.

Is there any way to reduce the time it is high idling? I feel like it is idling for a long time when it's not even that cold out.

I watched that video earlier.

According to it, 1500rpms is fine. I didn't hear a mention of the time it high idles though, It just mentioned how to lengthen the amount of time the choke remains on or how to shorten it.

Today for instance. I went out and pumped the pedal once. It turned over for a few seconds then popped off. I let it high idle for a bit and then pulled it out of the garage. It high idled for 3 mins or so until I was finally able to kick it down to 1200. I put it in drive and took off.

After a short drive and sitting for a few hours I tried the same thing but this time it was idling rough for 5 seconds or so then finally cleared up to high idle.

I just need to figure out which adjustments I need to play with.

I will try to adjust the the choke as it needs to stay on for a bit longer with these cold mornings.

I am okay with the preset 1500 rpms as, after watching the video, is normal.

If I understand them correctly, they have a stepdown cam.
