6 months. I have a 6 month emergency fund including fixed and variable (to my best estimates) expenses.
My fields job outlook is fairly solid. I’m in EHS I think I could find something within 6 months. |

I'd be okay. My rental income beat my day job income a few years ago, although my job pulled back ahead. I'd rather not have to give up that income though.
If I had to go out and get a job ASAP I could do so, I'd probably not be happy about it, but I could make ends meet from even a modest job I imagine. |

Well I work for myself so…
Now if you are asking how fucked I would be if all my clients poofed… we’d be OK for awhile. We could pay for our housing and utilities for a couple years by depleting savings. We have close to a year’s food stored up. Both our cars and our beater truck are paid off. Insurance for three would be about $3k for the year and we could sell a vehicle easily to bring in more cash. My watch collection… well I’d hate to see it go, but if needed I can always sell and reacquire later. We also have several pieces of property we could sell. One is ready to be developed and would likely bring in enough to pay for another year of living, at least nine months. We live simply. The results of a three year battle with cancer that completely depleted us. One bedroom apartment, cars are an Optima, Civic, and a 20 year old GMC Sierra. To most of ARFCOM we are peasants, to most of the nation (the majority of which couldn’t scrape together $1,000 for an emergency) we are quite secure and comfortable. |

This happened to me 3 weeks ago. Wife, 3 kids at home and 1 in college. I have 3 to 6 months before it becomes an emergency unless a big expense falls in our lap in the meantime.
I've been making as much or more unemployed than employed so far. Not stable or long term but so far, so good. |

Just saw a report of OJ Simpsons finances over the weekend, in addition to other income he was getting $3600 a month in Social Security. I am getting $3200 a month lol, ole OJ was only doing 400 a month more than me.
I have a lot of good monthly income from my Fidelity accts as well. The trick to surviving the OPs question is to have no debt. There is school buses to be driven everywhere as long as you have been a good person and can pass all the requirements. I have been driving school buss the 1 year since I retired. Making $31.00 an hour part time with full time benefits. If you can, you lose your job, go drive a school bus. I love the kids, hella fun job. |

By my calculation I can take approximately 2 years off from work without any income whatsoever.
I have structured my life such that I can work part time in a gas station and not lose my house or starve. |

My company pays out PTO when employees leave. Right now they'd owe me for a month of PTO, which I could stretch to last a while before needing to dip into my retirement accounts.

We can live comfortably off of my salary or my wife’s… no debt but our mortgage… and a rental property I could sell to basically pay off the remainder of our mortgage. Savings to cover 6 months of bills if we both got laid off at the same time, but we are in different industries so probably unlikely. It would still suck.

We live on less than 50% of our take home, and have 6 months of current life style saved in cash, a year if we really needed to.
We could cash out about 1/3 of our retirement and be debt free. At that point we could live off of unemployment, but that would suck. I could probably have a job in a week or two, but at a big pay cut. She might have a harder time, she is in IT but a fairly specialized one with out many people doing it. So not a lot of jobs doing exactly what she does now. |

I'm a physical therapist.
I could find another steady job within a week or two. May not be my ideal position, but I wouldn't starve. Now replicating my exact income would be tough. I lucked into a very high paying job for my industry. |

If I only had my house payment I could stay for 7 years with property tax included. No other debt. Few expenses.
I'd just rent the house out and go live with my parents for free. They want me back anyway. |
