Got a case. What the hell.
Mine was 12/23 made. |

Ordered from Amazon 5/4, received 5/8.
Production date 3/23.. no inspection date on box. TTI sticker looks good.. For 3.10 a meal i may buy a couple more cases |
|
|
I dont think its been mentioned yet in the thread, they used to be yellow not pink/salmon. The color was changed because there was a concern that people would blow themselves up trying to find MREs that were thrown out of airplanes, as some unexploded ordnance was yellow

I dont get it |

I think they are good to have in general. Like, if you need to evacuate due to natural or man-made disaster, throw a couple cases of these in your vehicle.

Got my 2 cases the other day. Next time the boy and I go camping I'll bring a few. He's 5 and typically like camping food. Usually he's happy with a can of Vienna sausages for dinner.

Which manufacturers are you guys getting?
Received a case from Amazon yesterday, sold by "Atom Productions", and it was packed by Sopakco. I get the feeling they might be the major producer of these, but can find no statistics for this. I've only ever gotten Sopakco in the past, and I'd really like to compare it to Wornick and Ameriqual. The sellers are vague about the producers and if they mention them at all, they only say it could be from any of them. |

Thanks, I see the seller was Countrywide Sports.
Amazon's got 10 or 12 different sellers listed, at the same price, but they are no longer there. |

View Quote Probably sold out at that price. I've ordered from a couple other sellers before and not had an issue. That's the nice thing about prime. If it's not as advertised, it goes back and the seller cant afford to pay that kind of shipping penalty so....they tend to get shit right. |

Sampled the first one today. Split the pack up into two lunches since it's meant to be a whole day meal.
Today's lunch was barley stew, crackers, peanut spread. pretty darn tasty, and for$1.75 no complaints. It did desperately need hot sauce and more salt so I'll pack some next time. My only complaint is the peanut spread has a bit of an oily lingering aftertaste but not super objectionable. |
|
|
Ok, second half became dinner due to rain and a broken pipe pushing my day late so luckily it was in the truck I guess.
Rice with veg. Decent texture but it's definitely not rice with flavor. Salt, pepper, and a little hot sauce brings things into the range of pretty tasty though. Poptart, weil it's a Poptart in factory packaging. Aside from the vacuum pack fusing the two into one unitart no surprises. Ate the shortbread cookie with the jam on top. This was beyond good, I'd order a case of those things. |
