It’s delicious.

Could be, I wouldn't know. Please tell me it's dill and not sweet relish.

Still don't know why that color.

Yup, whenever I get back to Chicagoland area, Portillo is a required stop.  Grew up in the ‘burbs and my favorite was Hansel’s & Gretel’s a small family owned shop that also served up a good brat.

For a hot dog to be good, it has to be made cheap, fast, and in house converted into a restaurant.

Chilli sauce, mustard, onions, and cheese. "Normal size" not some giant monstrosity. Should cost $1-1.50 each, as cheese is extra.

I miss having 3-4x places that all they did was cheap hotdogs, chips, soda and slow cookers full of whatever the owners wife made to serve that day.

I get a Chicago Dog whenever I fly through Midway.  There is a small place across from Nuts on Clark (why the hell Clark likes nuts on him, I have no idea) that is pretty good.  Even better, the service is decent instead of the typical Chicago bullshit attitude everyone usually has in that airport.  No offense to Chicagoans intended.

About two weeks ago on a layover, while pondering about Clark’s Nuts and eating my second Chicago Dog, my wife decided to order Vienna Sport Peppers.  When we got home yesterday there were four jars waiting for us.  So, Chicago Dogs this weekend!

Way better than tomato's and sport pepps.

It’s gotta be nuke glow green, the peppers have to be “sport” peppers and the buns have to be poppy seeded.  It’s just the way it is….

F- that. If you want a chili dog, go to Dairy Queen. Chili dogs exist so that you can claim you were going out for lunch and not just for ice cream.

You need a hotdog wrapped in bacon with cheese sauce and grilled or caramelized onions. Maybe some jalapeños as well or some chipotle.
