So do those things glide, autogyro, or have a safety chute in case of motor failure?

That homemade sub implosion is still one of the craziest stories to come out of post-pandemic clown world.

I’d just end up on my roof or in trees based on every drone attempt I’ve made.

Or crashing into the ocean on your first attempt

I would probably accidentally chop up some children, or puppies, or children holding puppies.

I think it looks pretty awesome. Cut he price in half and I’m in. It’ll probably be 10 years before they are mature enough for guys like me though, so it’ll be too late for me. Damn.

Rotors in the same plane as the pilot's head seems sketchy.

I would love one.

But to allow general public to buy and just take off?

I can see downed power lines and charred people in the future.

People trying to fly under bridges and flying into support beams. Or over bridges and not allowing room to clear traffic on the bridge and running into cars.

Do you need a sports pilot license to fly one?

With the weight they listed it would technically be an ultralight aircraft, no license needed.

That could work for me. Straight line distance to work is 16 miles, but driving is nearly double that. At 60 mph, that's basically 15 minutes, so leaving margin of safety.

That's assuming zero wind, and ignoring the requirement for rotorcraft to carry 20 minutes of fuel reserve (14 CFR 91.151.)  Better get one before the regulatory structure catches up to technology and stipulates minimum energy reserves for EV aircraft.

Just to fly my DJI drone that weighs less than 250 grams I need a license for the frequency of the drone and proof of 1,000,000 baht liability insurance in case I crash it into someone or their property,  also a license for the drone.
I would imagine much more would be required for a drone/aircraft that could carry me.

As I just realized in my above reply, its legally an ultralight. So it does not follow of the normal rules.

But all the other rules for ultralights do apply, speed limited which they did in the software, cant fly over people or towns/cities. So that really kills it for flying to work unless you live and work on a farm.

That's funny, I was just thinking about this contraption and came back in here to see what it weighs.  I stand corrected:  it is indeed a completely worthless Part 103 toy.

These types of vehicles are always presented as a way to revolutionize a person's urban commute by overflying city traffic.  I always wonder how many people buy the hype before realizing half their commute cuts through surface-level Bravo airspace.
